Bracken House is a wonderful home full of charm and character. The dining room, lounge, library are together with the beautiful bedrooms all spacious and extremely comfortable. But above all Bracken House has two of the most friendly and welcoming hosts Guy and Sue. Staying with them one thinks that you have known them for many years. A must stay if visiting... More

We have travelled extensively in the UK, as my husband is English and we visit family frequently. I can honestly say that Bracken House (and it's host family) are one of the shining stars we will never forget. Bracken House is like something out of an old Agatha Christie book, you know, the "lovely rose-covered country house". We were warmly... More

I stayed with 3 teenagers and although Guy was away, Sue and her 2 children were most welcoming. After surfing each day, Sue offered to dry our towels and wet suits - nothing was ever too much trouble. The rooms were spotless, with crisp white bed linen and sumptuous towels. Each furnished with interesting antiques, books and artefacts. This is... More

We have recently had a very enjoyable few days in Devon staying at Bracken House. Our room at the front of the house had magnificent views and the acommodation exceeded our expectations. Great attention to detail with everything of the highest standard. Guy and Sue were the perfect hosts . The Cream Tea on arrival was a lovely gesture and... More

The Devon cream tea on arrival was truly excellent. Unfortunately our room was not. On the ground floor to the back of the house very dark and damp, looking into a wet hillside, with a cupboard too small to hang anything in it, a bath shower not working at first and aged carpeting on the floor. The towels were damp... More

We were sorry to read this latest review which is at odds with the previous ones we have received. The weather was awful during their whole trip and we like guests to give us a time when they would like breakfast and they were an hour late, albeit due to extenuating circumstances. They remained at the table for a long... More

This is our fourth stay at a Wolsey Lodge and Sue & Guy Sherratt made us very welcome.especially as they are relatively newcomers (July 2010) to this association. Wolsey Lodges are comfortable B&B's in character houses. On arrival we were presented with fresh scones & afternoon tea to wash away the 4 hour journey. We had also requested an optional... More

Our stay fulfilled all our hopes for three nights in comfortable surroundings for a 90-year-old mother (together with daughter and son-in-law): good food, antiques, high ceilings, attention to detail - and all in a gracious house set in a small valley with wonderful views. We received a warm welcome, and accommodating kindness throughout. More

Please disregard previous bad reviews of this B and B. The present owners have only owned Bracken House for 12 months. In that time they have created a wonderful, relaxing and luxurious environment in which to explore the wonders and mysteries of Exmoor. I stayed here with my retired father and my daughter aged 10. We all enjoyed our stay.... More

We booked two nights at Bracken House to break the journey to Cornwall and avoid the weekend traffic and it turned out to be a highlight of the holiday. We booked the Jeeves and Wooster rooms, elegant, high ceilings, bright, well furnished with period pieces and lovely views. Powerfull showers and huge "White Company" towels - typical of the attention... More
