We had a very comfortable, relaxed time at The King's Head. The staff are natural, welcoming and unfailingly helpful. The atmosphere of the place, the quality of the food and the unforced stylishness of the rooms and public areas make us wish to return as soon as we can.

When I book a meal, I want a friendly, welcoming & professional service and good food in a nice setting. Surely the basics that any pub and/or restaurant should aim to be offering. We had lunch at The King's Head, and the 2 young ladies who looked after us were brilliant - attentive & fun to chat to. The meal... More

Tasteful décor, genuine, happy, professional staff. Food was very gastro pub in style which is what we expected. We loved it and don't really understand some of the negativity on this site. Nothing was too much trouble which made us feel right at home.

Got a good late deal on a quiet Monday night. Stayed in the suite which is a quirky two story annexe with separate sitting room and bedroom. Stairs are steep and narrow so wouldn't suit anyone with mobility problems. Well appointed accommodation but lack of headroom in the bathroom and no screen made showering awkward. Interesting gastro dinner menu and... More

This pub seems to regularly go through new ownership, the current management seem to have got the food ok (but not great) but has serious flaws in its customer service, slow and surley, we waited ages for food to arrive and even longer for plates to be cleared away eventually we abandoned pudding and asked for the bill which funnily... I stayed here for 2 nights so as to be able to enjoy the Christmas market in Winchester. The pub is lovely, very gastro pub styling and a warm welcome from all the staff. I stayed in the room with the slipper bath. The bathroom was lovely top marks for the products and the room itself. The bed room was... More

....when you spend £115 for B&B, and you can spend more, you would expect a bit more value for your money. The room was fine but the bathroom could have been cleaner. Our room was called Heathcote and there was no view from the window. Our evening meal was excellent chosen from a decent menu of gastro pub standards; the... More

Booked a weekend away at short notice. Hotel is located in a picturesque village, within easy reach of both Winchester and Romsey. It's on a fairly main road but any road noise didn't disturb our stay. Staff attentive and very helpful whether it was sorting out my no notice dietary request or offering tips on the best sights to see... More

My wife and I booked in for the New Years Eve black tie event. From the time we arrived till when we left, we were given a fantastic service. Room was excellent and food was first class. We will definitely come and stay again. The management were very friendly and helpful.

Our children treated us to a night at the Kings Head as an early Christmas present. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and shown to our rooms. Our room, the Cromwell, was compact, but had everything you needed for an enjoyable stay. The bed was softer than we are used to but we both slept very well. The bathroom was... More
