The posada olalde has been one of the best low budget options for travelers seeking comfort and amenities with out hurting the wallet. Victor Olalde is the owner and speaks English, German, in addition to Spanish. His sister and mother -- who are in the Posada during the days only speak spanish, but their 40 years of experience with travelers... More

There are not that much low-budget choices in Piste. Posada Olalde was surprisingly clean, bright, cheap (300$ for private room) with functioning fan ;) good matraces and privacy. The internet was not functioning and the owners does not speak any English and little Spanish. To get to Chichen Itza, do not think too much - take the taxi (30$). We... More

After a change of plans, we ended up looking for an economical option to spend the night in Pisté (the town right outside Chichén Itzá). This place fit the bill perfectly. We chose to stay in one of the "bungalows" made of mud and sticks. As odd as it sounds, it was actually comfortable, with a ceiling fan and individual... More

I am fully aware that usually "You get what you pay for", so for $350 MXN per night I was certainly not expecting luxury. What I as expecting however, after having made the reservation two months ahead of time, and a call the day of arrival to confirm my attendance, was a room. Not so much. This is the kind... More

Rooms in the traditional Mayan-style cabanas are dark and unappealing, to us anyway, but the more modern rooms are quite comfortable. Gardens provide some shade. The location, on a side street in Piste, is not particularly appealing, and Piste isn't much of a place. One stays here to visit Chichen Itza, and that's about it. (There are some cenotes around,... I was told about this place at a hostel in Cancun. Posada Olalde Is very quiet and the rooms are clean with antique furniture. The son Victor speaks 4-5 languages and took me on a private tour of the cenotes in the area. He told me many stories about his culture and the places in the area. He really made... More

The Posada is off the main road, but if you ask anyone in the street they will indicate you the direction. You will not see much of the owners, they will just show you your room, take the money and then leave you alone. We had two double rooms: one was very nice, with some nice furniture, lampshades, mosquito net... More
