We stayed here as part of a package with pick up at out hotel in Quito. You get the feeling you are away from it all up in the clouds. We were in a newer cabin with a wall of windows facing the cloud forest. The daily hikes were strenuous but there was always something interesting to see orchids, birds... More

We are not birders but after this weekend we were just as enthusiastic to see new species of birds as the professionals. You can't imagine how many hummingbirds come to feed near the entrance of the lodge. The walking trails are marked from easy, moderate, to,difficult. Even easy trails can be challenging. There are naturalists who lead you on walks... More

We went on a daytrip to this hotel in order to explore the large reserve owned by the hotel. The hotel is really expensive, so we decided just doing a day trip from a much cheaper hotel in Mindo. The domain is really great: there were lots of animals along the tracks and there are lots of well-kept tracks. However,... More

This place is great even if you are not a birder. I am not;however, I love nature. This is a great place to see. I stayed two days one night. A driver picked me up at my hostel (yeah someone could find my hostel!!!) and took me back.I saw many different animals other than birds. The elevation is high and... More

I just stayed two nights in the tree house and it was incredible! This place is definitely for serious bird watchers, which I am not, but still had a great time. The staff treats you very well and helps with anything that comes up. You have to go in with the expectation that you are staying at a tree house... More

This is a rustic lodge 30 minutes outside Mindo sorrounded by a pristine cloud forest. We stayed there for one night and enjoyed trekking around the hills. The food was not great but we did not mind as nature was the main attraction. Highly recommended if you like to be in the middle of nature with basic ammenities. Richard our... More

The Bellavista Cloud Forest hotel was a disappointment. If you're a birder, and don't mind rustic accommodations and are prepared for mediocre food, you may want to visit, but short of that I'd skip it. The hikes are very slow -- the guides are lovely and very knowledgeable, but they stop ever few steps to look at birds, plants, etc.... More

Rough around the edges. Guided tours didn't really come to fruition due to the pace of less physically capable members of the group leading to us choosing to follow the trails by ourselves. And the trails were good, all a bit different, although the difficulty ratings weren't especially helpful. Food was hit and miss but hit more often than miss.... More

Before we went to the Galapagos, we wanted to see some of the natural beauty near Quito. We took a 1 day tour; we did not stay overnight.A driver promptly picked us up from our Quito hotel. The 2 hour drive was scenic. The driver knew the area and pointed out a cock in the rock in its nest before... More

I don’t know how many times I said that in our 2 days at the heavenly Bellavista Cloud forest in mid-November. This was a highlight of our trip to Ecuador, which was amazing. Nestor was our charming and knowledgeable guide. We're not birders but the number and variety of birds was amazing. The food was a bit heavy on sweet... More
