Loved staying here. Not the fanciest of hostels, but it is one of the cheapest you can find in Colombia. The owners are so awesome and friendly! I have read some reviews on TA about them being unkind or condescending...but I found them totally amazing! I gather that they just appreciate it when you make an effort to speak Spanish... More

This place is great for a backpacker looking to meet other backpackers, or relax. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the owner is fantastic and friendly. The coffee is REAL which is amazing for Colombia, and when I was there, the owner had made bread that we could have. The setup is lovely, bright and sunny, and there is... More

We had a comfortable stay here, the rooms are basic but reasonably priced. The kitchen facilities are good and you get free coffee all day. The downside is this hostel is on a steep hill so this can be a bit of a nightmare at times (especially when you forget things and have to go all the way back) the... More

Hello, Thank you for your review, about the hill, San Gil is a very steep town and we are in one typical street, and for that reason at only 5 blocks of the centre it's very quiet, no noise from the town. I'm from the french part of Switzerland and my native language is french so i thing is natural... More

Excellent hostel. Knowledgeable, relaxed and helpful owners who live in the place. This means there's always someone around if you have questions, AND they have the best kitchen (and I mean that) I have found in any hostel around the world. + Kitchen with professional 6-pit stove, working oven, blender, pyrex dishes which means you can cook oven dishes (lasagna,... At the age of 35 - almost 36 - I had never slept in a hostel before. I guess one could say I had a privileged lifestyle or I simply wasn't into the whole concept. As a matter of fact we got a private room, with shared bathroom. That is as far as I would go. The experience wasn't traumatic... More

Thank you for your review, i just want to make it clear that the rooms do have Windows that open to the "patio" like in the old typical colonial houses in South america. If you watch the pictures that appaear in the site you can see it clearely, so if you like what you see, you will like our hostel. More

I loved my stay at Le Papillon, all 9 days. The price is just right, it is not too far from things, it is clean, the kitchen is very well equpied (i.e. oven, blender, cheese grater, you name it) I was able to recieve all the information I needed from the hospitable owners. The vibe was just really good, super... More

Have just left this place and really enjoyed our stay. The staff gave us lots of useful information and helped us with bus reservations. The place was very clean, including the kitchen which we enjoyed using. The computer and TV are a great touch for guests. One minor issue was that although we had a private room it was still...
