I stayed at the Kingfisher Ecolodge for my last night in Laos in September 2008, and wished I'd been able to stay longer. It's in a beautiful location overlooking paddy-fields, and the rooms have a fabulous balcony with hammocks for chilling out. It rained when I was there which was unfortunate (especially as the roof leaked on my bed ...)... more

We spent just one night at Kinfisher Ecolodge on our way from Champasak back to the Bolaven Plateau and Pakse, but we wish we had spent the whole holyday there. The Bangalows are just a dream, the nature and sightseeings nearby are incredible, people at the Lodge, from Massimo (the owner) to all the waiters and waitress are easy going,... more

The food served in the restaurant was fabulous, with fresh ingredients and a... more

There is available a daily public transport service (Songthaew, i.e. open truck with rear benches) leaving Pakse at around 12:00am from Km 8 south bus station (Lak Pet) to Ban Khiat Ngong and Kingfisher Ecolodge. The time of departure is approximate. The same transport leaves daily Ban khiat Ngong to Pakse at around 8:00am.

The bungalows are the greatest I have seen in Laos! There is an exceptionally beautiful surise, if you get up early enough in the morning. You might even see some elephants walking across the rice fields. The restaurant serve great Lao food, and can provide you with lunch bags with great sandwiches, if you are plan to do some of... more
