Equator Village reflects the military base it once was. Everything is ship shape and Bristol fashion, tidy, clean and well run. The all inclusive basis is incredible value for money (beer is free, but at the Shangri-La over the water it is $9 a pint), and both the snorkelling trip reef and the reef just wandering out from the beach... Rooms were clean and tidy, food was average. Bar staff were very unfriendly and had terrible hospitality. Some younger staff were very nice and helpful but others not. 3 star with old pool area. A couple of quality surf breaks are close but we organised our own boats.

Most of the reviews say it all. The resort is run as a "tight ship" and everything is so efficiently organised. From Ali and Aripon in the restaurant to Alicoco on the beach. Lots of people go diving so the days on shore are pretty quiet. The house reef has a guide rope for low tides, so you can access... More

we stayed at the equator village hotel for only 6 days, but it was a lovely stay. Our experience: The first impression - this is not Your average Maldives tiny island stay (we were aware of that), also, this is not a full luxurious hotel - it is 3 star hotel, and nothing makes it special in any way at... The Equator Village is a resort reborn from the British Club of earlier years when the Gan Island in the Addu Atoll was an RAF base. My GPS showed -0.667 degrees North at the door. Thus, the resort is really on the Equator (Zero Degree Latitude) GAN Island is one of the few places with the airport exactly in the... More

I went to Equator Village on the 21st of December 2014 and stayed there until the 30th od December 2014. I was really surprised that not many people came there for diving. First 3 days there was only 2-3 of us plus the guide. On the 4th day the boat was finally full to our sadness but to diving center... More

This was my 3rd visit to the Maldives and my first time on Gan. I found the Equator village a delight, the beaches though small were lovely clean sand, the swimming pool with swim up bar superb. The attention of the staff second to none my room was cleaned every day to perfection. The food although not a lot of... More

I traveled here from 20th November 2014 (14 days) as a solo traveler, I booked through Monarch Airlines, however it was managed by Cosmos, a last minute “use it or lose it” holiday very little information sent before departure, I had to chase for information and was assured that I would be met along the way and transfers would be... Just back from two weeks at the Equator Village in Gan. Having not booked the holiday ourselves, we had the benefit of no pre conceptions, concerns or views on what to expect. We found the Hotel clean, comfortable and well maintained, even during heavy downpours!! The food was better than I would have expected, Ali's soups are excellent. Night fishing... More

This was our 3rd visit to the Maldives and most of the critic we have read cannot be confirmed. There will always be complainers. We went there for 3 weeks and have to say it was great value for money. The Hotel itself is made up of rows of bungalows divided into rooms that have a bathroom, a safe and... More
