Amazing setting, with the Salar in front and the volcano to your left. Very comfortable beds, but dont expect great food. They use margerine in everything!! Also, be advised that you will pay a cork fee if you BOB.

This hotel is located in Tahua, right next to the Salar. We were there on our second night of a three-days tour of the area. First night was at Hotel de Piedra (desert). This place here is more cosy, but it is closer to services (compared to the desert one). Same owner, similar concept, except that this one is made... More

A community run Salt Hotel on the edge of the amazing Salt Flats, totally constructed of blocks of salt. Even the bed bases, and some chairs in the restaurant are built from salt blocks. Quite good views over the salt flats. Food was OK, but not as good as some of the other Bolivian "remote lodges" we visited . Home... More

Good concept ( family cooperation, wall & bed & dining chairs and table madof sal), good location (overlooking salar and possibly tonight's dinner, llama), very corteous staffs ( despite of my spanish shortcoming and his english). However, three stars hotel it is not ( cold, window and door not wind proof/ insulated). Come with open heart and open mind, a... More

Considering where we were, this hotel was ok. Triple room was a decent size. The hot water was good, although this was only available at certain times. We were here in Dec so the room was ok, it can be very uncomfortable in winter. Meals were served at certain times only. The food was filling although uninspiring- we did not... More

As other reviewers have mentioned, it's important to remember where this hotel is located, which is essentially the middle of nowhere in the Salar de Uyuni where heat, electricity, hot water, etc. are all luxuries. Given this context, the Tayka Hotel de Sal is a good hotel. While more expensive than the usual accommodations provided on Salar de Uyuni 4x4... More

Tayka de Sal is a small, village-run hotel in the tiny town of Tahua on the north edge of the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. It has about 14 rooms made almost entirely of salt. Unlike other "salt hotels" in the Salar, even the tables and chairs are made of salt here. It is a community-run hotel and employs members... More

It is important to remember where we were. Out in the wilds of the Salar - out in the wilds of nowhere. This salt constructed hotel is a welcome respite from this wilderness.Worth paying for the extra comfort after an arduous day. Spotlessly clean, warm, welcoming and with good wholesome (set menu) food. Oh and with a bottle of wine... More

Takya Hotel was the first salt hotel we stayed during our visit to the Uyuni. It is located at the edge of the salt field and quite deserted. The room was comfortable and the meals were included. There were so many stars at night which was amazing. In the morning, you can see the salt field from your room -... More

We stayed at the Tayka Sal for 1 night. It's a very unique place with walls, tables, chairs, and bed made out of salt. The rooms are Spartan and cold. The bathroom is not heated. Service is very friendly and food is freshly prepared and appetizing. A basic hotel for adventure travelers with some extra bolivianos in their pockets. Expensive... More
