Sue was exceptionally helpful and hospitable, and this is what we are looking for in a B&B. The continental breakfast in the morning was by far the best we have ever had in a B&B - fresh fruit, locally sourced yogurt, honey and bread, and freshly squeezed orange juice. Sue put a lot of effort and thoughts in making her... More

We chose this B & B because of all the excellent reviews and even with our high expectations we found it by far the best B & B we have ever stayed in. Sue has created a wonderful environment, with large spacious rooms, a wonderful breakfast ( home made jams & yoghurt) and a cosy garden setting where we spent... More

We chose to stay with Sue here for a couple of reasons, but mainly, sight unseen, we appreciated all her wonderful prompt correspondence before we had ever left for our trip. She answered all my questions promptly and efficiently and we weren't disappointed when we arrived and met her. As we had a car on the majority of our trip... More

When you want an example of how a B&B should be run, you have to go to La Pillebourdière. Sue is dedicated to providing good service in a nicely located place. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped. It is amazing how they have been able to renovate this old farm and create these rooms with all modern comfort. A welcome... More

We have stayed at La Pillebourdiere many times now, and have reviewed it previously 3 times with excellent ratings. In the past we have always stayed en route to and from the UK, for one night, and in the winter. For the first time last week we made a special trip to the Loire for two nights, in order to... More

We stayed here for two nights during our trip to the Loire Valley and really enjoyed it. Our room was large and bright and the bathroom was very spacious. The breakfast was very good - fresh bread and pastries, yogurt, fruit and muesli and homemade jams. Sue, the host, is absolutely lovely. You could arrive here without any sort of... More

It was the highlight of our 3 weeks trip. Very beautiful and comfortable place. The owner is the best. The breakfast is amazing. The coupons she gave us saved us a few euros :). Highly recommended! Thanks a lot!

The room was absolutely gorgeous (and big), and breakfast was excellent. Sue was an excellent hostess, giving very helpful advice (and discount vouchers) for nearby chateaus and other sites, as well as restaurant. Peaceful and quiet, out in the country, in the center of the upper Loire chateau area. But you will definitely need a rental car to get around.

We stayed in La Maisonette at La Pillebourdiere for three nights and it was just perfect. The cottage itself is gorgeous, as is the whole property and the owner, Sue. Sue is a wealth of information regarding the chateaux, and she also gave us great tips for local restaurants, wineries and cheese farms. She is such a wonderful host and... More
