Spacious room in a lovely 17th Century Inn. Room cleaned daily. Toiletries & towels included. Breakfast excellent and Restaurant meal very good but limited choice especially for vegetarians. Staff all friendly and polite. The hotel appeared under-staffed but those we met were very personable. On busy main road so nowhere to sit outside except next to traffic or in the... more

just come back from a weekend break, last minute booking, so alot of hotels booked up, this is an ok hotel to stop for for one night, location was ok, not much there, the good thing about this hotel is that it had a heath club you could use, which is why we chose this hotel, nice pool, jacuzzi, steam... more

After deciding to spend a night away from home and pamper ourselves, we booked at The Crown Hotel, only 30 mins drive from our house. Having eaten there in the past I knew it was a quality hotel and the leisure facilities were what we were looking for. The price was very reasonable having booked through Superbreak. We arrived at... more

We stayed friday night till Sunday morning in what we expected to be a pleasant coaching inn near Harrogate. The receptionist was one of the best we have ever come accross in all of our extensive travel's both on business and pleasure. She was efficient and helpfull and a pleasure to meet in such a quiet backwater. We were given... more

We stayed here as part of a party of 7. The hotel is a quirky building with ample car parking and pleasant leisure facilities. The girl on reception and the man supervising the pool area were delightful and made us feel very welcome. Our room was fairly small, and could have done with better hoovering, but was clean on the... more

Overall a very good hotel with very comfy beds, friendly staff and a great leisure suite. A small drawback I thought was the fact that the telly reception was very very poor and watching it was almost impossible it's a small winge but when you are staying for a week on business it's a bit frustrating, my collegue also had... more

Stayed in this nice little hotel on a Saturday night in June... Good things - Reception staff were very pleasant, helpful and friendly throughout - checking in and out was simple and easy. The room was quite clean and OK. Complimentary breakfast in the morning was very good too. Pool and gym looked nice too although we didn't use them.... more

OK so it looks pretty in the pics, and the village is mildly interesting. On the plus side the free leisure facilities make a stay worthwhile, the pool was a good 32 degrees and the jacuzzi was 38 - excellent - no scrimping here. Fine sauna and steam room. The restaraunt must have been last decorated in the 70's when... more

The Crown is a fine old inn once at the heart of the stage coach service from London to Edinburgh. Rest assured that the town has been bypassed twice so there is no through traffic now. The Crown has been modernised and updated and has a pool and a secure car park under pass code control. The small town of... more

Having been stuck in a traffic jam on the M1 for 2 hours, I had telephoned in advance and - having ascertained that the restaurant would be closed by the time I arrived - had ordered a sandwich to be left for my arrival. Check in was quick and the staff very friendly. I also appreciated the gated car park,... more
