Went to the Cross Hands at Old Sodbury for the night before visiting "Treefest" some 10miles away and was very impressed by the room, large, clean and comfortable. The staff at the hotel were all very friendly, and helpful, although would have been nice to know that effectively Chipping Sodbury is closed on a Sunday, so it took a bit... More

Where to start!! I signed in at reception and was given directions where to go, but it was a bit puzzling as the door to the upstairs was in the bar and when you walked through everyone looked at you - not a nice thing when you are a lone femail. Still I went to my room, number 16 and... More

I think you need to cross your fingers here and hope you get it right. Stayed here two years ago and felt okay to return. A different room this time. Unfortunately there is a flood light across the yard which was on all night. Being one who likes total darkness at night it was not welcome shining round the edges... More

Neither the price tag nor the website accurately reflect truly disappointing standard at this hotel. There is nothing to be said of the room other than tatty and outdated. However, it is in the dining experience that there is so much to pick fault with. Service is truly glacial - if you must dine there then at least sit in... More

Never a good start when the meal arrives on the table before the drinks, but as the food was indescribably bad, we should have just had the drinks and left. Pretty much everything we ordered was straight out of the microwave except the prawn cocktail that sat on a bed of shrivelled ancient lettuce amid a bright pink sauce, accompanied... More

Just come back today from this hotel for a friends wedding. Rooms The rooms are very out dated, they could really do with a refurbishment. Windows wouldn't open and there was a lot of dust. The bath room was unclean and the road outside woke me! Food and drink Food in the evening was really good and staff were very... More

We stayed at the Cross hands Hotel for 2 nights in August 2014 and had booked a superior room, having been told it would be larger than a standard room and that it would also have a larger double bed. It did have a queen size double bed but the room was just too small for the bed. They had... More

Thank you for posting. You are absolutely correct - the Superior rooms are larger with bigger beds. Some of the rooms do have sliding doors on wardrobes but this is only due to the original design of the building and the consequent use of space. We are currently reviewing your comments on the bathroom to see how we can improve.... More

We stayed one night here whilst visiting the Balloon Fiesta in Bristol. This was the nearest hotel we could find to Bristol believe it or not but we got a good deal via Booking.com and thought it would be nice to get out of the city for a night. We called the hotel earlier in the day saying that we... More

This lovely old inn offers so much but fails to deliver. A quaint building on a busy crossroads but in a handy position for touring the area. If we had paid the true value of a night at this venue, say £60, we would have accepted some of the flaws but we decided to upgrade in advance to a deluxe... More

Thank you for posting. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the food and breakfast. We look into the ventilation and bathroom issue mentioned and see if we can redesign this room. If you pass by again - ask for a Superior room with a bath. Most rooms have showers due to the age and confines of the building... More

We asked for a quite room which it was until the delivery arrived early in the morning!! The banging of barrels & the mens singing woke us up!! The room was nice perfect for 1 night. We had dinner which we could not fault, also the breakfast. The staff are very helpful and friendly.

Thank you for your review and the great comments. Apologies for the noise of the dray delivery. Singing is not their forte. We will monitor the noise levels going forward. George, Colette and the team. More
