In January we were lucky enough to stay at Lucky Bean in, Johannesburg. From the moment we first made enquiries until our departure, Conway was the perfect host dealing with our enquiries in a proessional and courteous manner. Conway also runs the Lucky Bean Restaurant, which offers great bistro type food with a wonderful list of South African wines.

We stayed with a group of 16 architects and planners during an excursion through Southern Africa at this marvellous guesthouse. Reception by the owners was most warm and helpful. The guesthouse is a truly gorgeous place to stay. Conway, Natasha and all their staff are helpful, friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. Beautiful, well equipped rooms and delicious breakfast (including wonderful coffee!). Will happily stay here again and again.

Beautiful guesthouse, huge, very tastefully decorated rooms. Lovely garden and pool. Breakfast was fresh. Conway and Natasha very helpful in arranging pick-ups, tours etc. Only two small things which could be improved. A phone for making local calls (for taxi, ordering food, to call Conway or Natasha as not living on-site etc) and some small maps of the local area.... More

Very friendly staff, lovely owners, very nice rooms, excellent breakfast, free Internet. What is there not to like? Well, it is a bit pricey, perhaps, at about 60 euros for single occupancy. Then again, this is not exceptional in Melville.

We had 2 nights with Conway, his lovely family & staff. Everything was perfect - huge room with room for a pony & lovely bathroom. Best guesthouse in Johannesburg so far. Everyone at Lucky Bean helped happily, no gaps or problems. Would be my first choice for business again, or for holiday. Location much better than Parktown or Melrose, restaurant and shopping nearby, good bookstores, and safe walking.
