Stayed here expecting less than we found, the room was comfortable the staff friendly and the food excellent, we would stay again without hesitation. The location is handy for exploring the area around Whitby and the little villages nearby.

Following our last stay at this hotel/pubin July of this year, which you can read our review on and the reply from the owner, we could not wait to return there, but this time we were to meet up with my sister and her husband after our singing the praises of the place and friendly service, this we booked through Robbie... I'm sorry to read at such length that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. Frankly it was no picnic from our side either. Your manner towards our staff from the offset was rude and arrogant. I admit that we were in a transition between two seasonal menus which did cause problems on one night, the second night we went... More

Visited frequently whilst holidaying in Runswick Bay. So nice to be able to sit comfortably with our dog and have a nice meal. The food is excellent and the staff very efficient though perhaps a little aloof in our experience. On saying that the staff weren't unpleasant and so it may have just been their way. The hotel is very... More

Stayed for three nights along with our two dogs. A superb location adjacent to the Cleveland Way and very close to the superb Runswick bay. The owners and staff were very friendly which added to our enjoyment of the short break. The bar food is excellent and substantial, just what you need after a day's walking along the coastal footpath.... More

We stayed overnight here while walking the Cleveland way. The hotel is well situated for walkers, and is only a short walk from thew beach (though its quite a steep hill down to the beach from thew hotel). The staff were welcoming and friendly, and quickly showed us to our rooms. The rooms are a little basic and the window... More

We had a really entertaining night a couple of years ago when we went to a Fawlty Towers dining experience. So having read some of the previous reviews we were quite looking forward to meeting Runswick Bays very own Basil Fawlty. Unfortunately he must have been to etiquette school, as we found him very helpful and not at all rude.... More

I stayed here with my 5 year old son for three nights in late August 2012. The family room (double bed and bunk bed) was basic and a little dated but it came at a good price. All the staff were friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. The breakfasts were excellent and so were the evening meals, we... More

I have been visiting Runswick bay hotel all year. It is a great little bar that sells good food and great beer. Try the hardys bitter / the best pint I have had even after visiting the captin cook inn beer festival the same day. The bar has a rustic feel and is welcoming for families and allow dogs. Try... My husband and I stayed here for three nights for a weekend of rest while our 2 year old stayed with Grandma and Granddad. We had an excellent time. The room was basic, but quiet, big, clean and bright with nice countryside views. The price and location can't be beat. One morning, we walked to Staithes along the coast which... More

We booked a very last minute room for us and our golden retriever. We weren't sure what to expect but we were very impressed. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The hotel was in a good location, easy to find and with a car park. We didn't have dinner at the hotel (but we will next time!) Breakfast was... More
