We stayed at Casa Rio Blanco for 3 nights. The room/cabin was basic, but clean. We had a king size bed! Unfortunately, it rained the whole time we were there. Annette helped us choose a spot to hike (we avoided the rain for 2 hours) and arranged for us to go on the Zipline using her discount. The zipline was... More

We spent one night here as a stopping point between a traverse from Montezuma and Tortuguero (It's a long journey) and we had a comfortable stay. It is situated on the river from which it takes its name and it does mean that it isn't the quietest place you'll ever stay (the river rushes past 24/7) but you do quickly... More

I followed the instructions on this lodge's website in order to travel there from San Jose by coach: they worked perfectly. For the next day the lodge owner arranged a taxi to take me back to the tram in the nearby forest preserve, and I was able to flag down a coach from there back to San Jose. The afternoon... More

This place is far from everything and you don't even have the joy of being close to nature. There is nothing around it. In one side you have the river (no direct access from the property) and in the other side there is an unpaved road in really bad shape that goes through a small neighborhood. Our cabin was very... It's not really difficult to locate Casa Rio Blanco when we arrived with our rent car (GPS helped a lot). The host was really great lady; she's lovely and friendly. She certainly welcomes everyone, including gay and lesbian people with open arms. The garden is beautiful and neat, and also, the rooms with privacy bathrooms and patios are excellent. Healthy... 1. Safe 2. Friendly and accommodating 3. Pretty location on river I would recommend having your own transportation if you stay here. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Breakfast and dinner were very good. The rooms were clean and met our expectations, basic but what we expected. Warm showers, drinking water, wifi and privacy.

If Costa Rica is the Garden of Eden, then the Rio Blanco Eco-Lodge is at its heart. We stayed twice on a recent visit; our first night after driving (OK, I was the white-knuckled passenger) over the mountains and our next-to-last night, getting ready to drive back over. The accommodations were spacious (only king-size bed during our two week visit),... More

We, parents and 13 year old daughter stayed for 3 nights at the B&B in August. We had a great time and good food. The owner is very charming and she is a great cook, the pasta was delicious. The 1-day trip to Tortuguero was nice and very affordable (use your own car and go by ferry for the last... More

If you want a rustic, yet civilized experience, you will love this place! The cabins are nice, and the rainforest is right there! We saw a sloth from the breakfast area! Also, Annette is amazing! A very nice woman. In addition, she welcomes gays and lesbians with open arms. Great stay!

We spent our first night in Costa Rica in Casa Rio Blanca. We arrived in San Jose at 1.00pm and wanted somewhere to stay en route to La Paviona from where we were taking a boat to Tortuguera the following day. It was a relatively easy drive of less than 2 hours to get there from the airport. The individual... More
