We arrived at Chateau Touanne after eight weeks on a boat. We were warmly welcomed by Christine and shown to our beautiful bedroom with best of all an en suite bathroom with a huge bath. What luxury. Christine cooked us a fantastic meal served to us in the romantic candlelit dining room. A very perfect way to spend our last... More

Christine and Nicholas were wonderful, friendly and charming hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and they made their home feel like our home. Breakfast was varied and always excellent. We ate in the chateau on our first night (you can eat there with prior arrangement) and Christine served up a wonderful feast for us, which was exceptional value. Beautiful setting... More

A beautiful place surrounded by parkland and trees, set in an area of glorious wheat fields. We found the chateau on Sawdays, booked directly so we could arrange to stay when evening meals are available, as indicated on the Chateau's own website, with secure payment arrangement. We phoned to discuss arrangements with Christine who speaks excellent English .We stayed for four nights... It is rare these days, with wide angle lenses and photoshop, to walk into a bedroom and think this is even better than I imagined it to be. I loved it. First impressions score very high as soon as you approach this amazing gem. It is most definitely a château! The owners (the family who have had the chateau for... More

We stayed here en route to the Dordogne. We arrived late on a Friday evening in July and after being shown to our room we were served a beautiful salad accompanied with bread and local wine. The salad was extremely tasty and included fresh fruit as well as your usual salad veg. Afterwards we had a lovely dessert. All of... More

We stayed 3 nights in this lovely chateau. Our room was large and we had a modern bathroom. If you want a quiet escape this is it! No TV - who needs it in this lovely spot? The owners made us welcome and were helpful with recommendations on where to visit and where to eat. Super breakfast in a lovely... More

My wife & I received a friendly welcome and a great recommendation for a simple supper down the road in a nearby town. The room was large, quiet, clean and comfortable and hey, it's a castle: What's not to like?

Unique place, polite/helpful/with a sense of humor hosts, great location! We stayed for 3 nights, the breakfast was impeccable(fresh and dry fruits, fresh croissants, local scones, muesli, granola, milk/fresh orange juice/tea/coffee,cheese or bresaola, bread, homemade marmalades etc😋), the chateau is surrounded by a very big area covered with trees, grass, flowers, all natural, there is also a boat to use for free... I stayed here with my wife for five days on our honeymoon a year ago (the selection box wouldn't let me select April 2014). It was the beginning of the season, so it was quiet. Nicolas and Christine, who were the most open and generous hosts, greeted us upon arrival. They helped with guiding us to places to visits, and... More

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We had a wonderful warm welcome from Nicholas and Christine. Magnificent historical chateau in excellent condition throughout. The grounds are extensive and you're encouraged to use them, we saw red squirrels in the trees and deer grazing in the grounds at sunset. The heated pool is lovely. The rooms are comfortable and of... More
