I recently stayed at this resort in February 2014. My room and bed was clean, tidy and comfortable. The views from my balcony were beautiful. The staff and waiters were friendly but the communication barrier was frustrating at times. The F.O.M. and G.M. were very helpful and pleasant to speak to. The food was delicious. Freshest and yummiest calamari I... More

Seriously, if you are coming all the way to Zanzibar you can save a few extra dollars and stay somewhere better. Or else you can stay at a hostel in Stone Town or a banda on the beach which would be better than this. So many bugs in the rooms, the pool water is greenish black, some of the fountains... More

We stayed in the resort over Dec 2013. It was a pleasant stay over all. We arrived very early and the staff didn't hesitate to check us in although check in time is much later. The rooms were clean and tidy. Some people cmplained about cold showers but we never had that problem. You got to let the water run... More

I visited this hotel few years back and all I remember is their swimming pool. I guess the swimming pool they have will be in the list of top 5 swimming pools in zanzibar island. as others mentioned, please wear long sleeves, jeans and dress shoes nevertheless hot temperature because the mosquitos will never be your friend during your stay.... Our stay at this hotel for the New year was extremely disappointing. The room furniture was dated, shower didn't have hot water, bed sheets and towels were ripped and stained, TV never worked. Maintenance came on three separate occasions in a single afternoon and never came back to fix the problem. Staff were friendly but most of the time appeared... More

If you are interested in having your belongings or money stolen, then this is the place for you. Reclaiming anything is a waste of time as you will be brushed off in the name of 'ongoing investigations!!' The cherry on top is a pathetic beach, full of dirt, and not forgetting the bugs in the room! A horrible experience that... More

My stay at Zanzibar Beach Resort in December 2013 was a very pleasant one. We were very warmly received by the staff. All were extremely friendly and were always willing to please. I found the approach of the GM , Mr Derick Grose to be very warm. The Food and Beverage Manager , Mr Dayne , is most amazing and... More

Just like any other resort in Zanzibar this one is also located on the shoreline. One has to be a little adventerous to make their stay comfortable.Though the lack of modern facilities can hurt some, one has to remember that they are in Africa, adventure is the name of the game.Very warm and friendly staff.Take a stroll on the correl banks on... If you are looking for that dream 'Africa experience' I would recommend staying elsewhere. This hotel is functional, and the staff are polite and friendly, BUT (as others have said), it is quite dated, and getting a bit shabby. There is no hot water in the showers in the morning (I think the hot water is heated by the sun,... More
