We visited here with a friend that was staying in the hotel, we had the antipasti starter which was delicious, so we were excited about our mains. I had rack of lamb, it was over cooked, chewy and horrible. My husband and friend had fillet steak, again over cooked and chewy, even the veg and potatoes! Very disappointing as the... More

We are finding it difficult to give educated feedback - you ate with us in April and your review is July! I know we sold 115 Rack of Lamb in April and many Fillet Steaks for which we have a very good reputation. Please try us again - i'm sure you will not be disappointed. More

Our second visit to the Cartwright, and not as good as memory serves. Firstly this is not a cheap hotel, and this is what made me give this a 3 instead of a 4. The food here is very good and good value too. The cheeky chappie who served us dinner was very good and made us feel welcome. The... More

I have stayed at the Cartwright on 3 separate occasions after it being recommended by Turweston Airport near Silverstone. It is 20 mins drive away from Silverstone and is a hidden gem when you compare it to the other "chain" hotels Rooms are clean and tidy with character, but the things that really makes the hotel are the location. Great... More

I had to make a last minute change to my business plans and needed a hotel. I normally use chain hotels as you know what you're getting, but there wasn't one near where I was working, hence the reason I booked this place. Thankfully I did! I arrived in the village of Aynho, not knowing what to expect, but it... More

We were greeted as we got out of our car by a very friendly member of staff and shown directly to our table in an immaculate restaurant. The menu was a typical British Sunday lunch menu. When the food came we were all very impressed, my son had roast chicken with a big bowl of vegetables, my husband and I... More

Trip Advisor can sometimes drive me mad, they denied knowing about the Cartwright Hotel but it appears on th websight !. Anyway, here goes: I had not been to Aynho for 60 years !, what was the Pub in this incredibly attractive village near Banbury is now a Hotel with a recommended restaurant so I decided to try it. I felt that the AA must have visited on a very good day to give 3 stars to this hotel. The best part of our night's stay was a sandwich lunch - the roast beef was lovely and the chips with it were lovely. The same could not be said of the dark bedroom! We arrived to find half the... More

Interesting that the last two "not so positive" reviews are both from guests staying Saturday only for a local wedding. We have to charge rack rate for the room as we are unable to sell the Friday to guests looking for a weekend break - this can cause resentment with our wedding guest who by definition see very little of... We stayed overnight because of an (amazing) wedding opposite at the Aynho Hall. Sadly Cartwright Hotel is a disappointment - rather how English hotels used to be before they improved. Nothing quite worked. Missing light in bedroom. Spacious room but very dull. No Wifi anywhere. When I enquired if lunch was served outside I was told that yes there was... More

Four of us visited for an Evening meal on a Travelzoo deal, which was excellent value, but to be honest the food is not badly priced for the quality. We all had the Tornedo Rossini for our main - WOW one of the best I've had and at a normal price of £19 great value. The staff were really friendly... More

As a relative local to this place I can only say that it continues to be a real disappointment on a number of levels, The service is pretty bad, other than a nice young guy behind the bar who is wasted here, the staff seem miserable and unfriendly. The really sad thing is that what could be a busy local... More
