We had some drinks and food in here before a wedding and it is a really Cool place. Staff are friendly and welcoming and the food was really nice. The rooms were fully booked as we tried to stay here but friends told us the rooms were really clean and had a nice stay - we'll have to book quicker... More

Met with my Mum and Dad for a birthday lunch on a January Monday. We had a wonderful meal and even though very few people were in the restaurant the heating was on and we were very comfortable.£14 for 2 courses-we all had different starters and mains and everything was beautifully cooked. Had often passed this hotel and wondered what it... More

Hotel room was not made up properly. Bath leaks water when having a bath. Locked out of room due to card access not working. No tissues in the room. Staff were helpful. Food was expensive, but just pub grub. Won't be going back. Wi-Fi awful!!!

Having checked this out I can assure guests that we do not have any leaking baths, and our restaurant gets excellent feedback. Sorry about the key (it does happen but only takes a minute to sort out) and the WiFi has been improved tremendously since the village upgraded their broadband. More

Stayed here during my sisters wedding and have absolutely no complaints. The location was fantastic as the wedding venue was only up the road. The rooms were spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I stayed in the summer so the staff were very helpful and got myself and others some fans for our rooms. I recommend this as a... More

The barman was kind, funny and polite and although the waitresses could have done with a bit more communication we had an overall amazing lunch. The food tasted fantastic. My fish was a little overlooked but had such wonderful flavours that I didn't mind and wow, the Eton mess was like nothing I've ever had before. A truly lovely meal... More

A very cosy and comfortable place to meet up with old friends. Great food, friendly staff and good service. All at really reasonable prices. We intend to meet there again as it's perfectly situated in a lovely little town with loads to see.

Stayed 2 nights, with friends, on a DB&B offer. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Evening meals were delicious, plenty of choice at breakfast, salmon, haddock, as well as full English, and all freshly cooked to order. The kitchen coped with a special diet without fuss on the first night and remembered for the rest of the stay - outstanding.... More

Stayed recently for a wedding. Rooms are very tired despite comments to the contrary by someone called Oddy. Staff are OK but the manager seemed stressed out and having to wait endlessly at the bar for non existent staff we decided to retire to our room. Quite noisy with the stench of smokers emanating from the pub entrance, the haunt... More

You were with a wedding party who really seemed to enjoy themselves and we do not appear to have any complaints logged at checkout. However I'm sorry you did not enjoy your stay and we will always try to justify the Cartwright's Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor in the future. More

The rooms are simple and somewhat dated and the interior design is questionable. However, the location is superb if you are attending an event nearby. There are plenty of parking spaces, too. I haven't tried to restaurant or made it up in time for breakfast so can't comment on the quality of food.

A lovely old building with rooms set around the car park as well as in the main building. A very warm welcome on arrival and everything possible done to ensure comfort. The room, standard, was opposite the entrance and very well equipped. Comfy arm chair, work station, tea/coffee and biscuits.Plus a fan heater for extra warmth. Nice toiletries, not the... More
