Don't really know where to start - in summary, this place is one of the most unusual and beautiful places I have ever stayed at. Yes it's a long drive from Cape Town but well worth it - you arrive at this traditional rustic, yet quite grand farmhouse down a short drive off the main road from Springbok to Spek... More

A really stunning place in a wonderful location. The mix of luxury, especially in the mountain huts, and being isolated in breathtaking scenery. The service and meals were top class. Lorene who manages the location could not have been more helpful. The trails are really worth doing for a truly south african experience of this location. I can't recommend this... More

My daughter and I stayed in the Manor House. My parents stayed in the Mountain Suites. The Mountain Suites are superb. They are thatched high ceiling domes. The 3 mountain suites are located a short drive from the manor house. They are wonderfully appointed with an African / luxury feel. There is thatch, earth colors, copper light fittings etc. The... We only stopped for one night on our road trip but it was a beautiful cottage very spacious and well equipped. Always good to stay in the natural bush away from the town. My husband followed the hiking trail in the morning and found it well marked out and easy to follow. We did not eat at the restaurant.

Our second visit to this place, we wanted to come back (it's the ideal stop if you're heading north) and stay again in the magnificent mountain suites. We booked again the honeymoon suite and again had a wonderfull stay, great welcome, the set up of the mountain suites is unique and gives good privacy, we recommend to sit out on... More

We spent three nights at Naries over Christmas and enjoyed a very peaceful stay in the Manor House. The retreat is about 30kms west of Springboks with fantastic unspoiled views all around. The room was comfortable and the food was a very high standard. Staff were flexible, helpful and efficient. They really did seem to work as a team. There... More

This was our second visit to Naries. The first time we stayed, mew rented a self-catering villa which was so special - braiding under the night sky was unforgettable. This time around we stayed in the Mountain Suites. It was just incredible - the room is luxurious, and fully kitted out. The view is breathtaking. Breakfast and dinner were taken care... More

Naries a retreat from everywhere. Rooms are built into large Rocks in the edge of Overlooks. Wild life is close by for viewing. Field mice came into the room apparently to get out of the cold. After seeing us int its bed, it made a hasty retreat out under the door through its apparent chewed out entrance/exit. That said, this... More

The place itself is a beautiful and well maintained farm with hiking trails. Staff is friendly and the meals are good. Rooms are very basic (no TV, no fridge) and cold (design) which was actually disappointing if you think about the rates of at least R1700 per night. For the same amount we stayed in way better places.

Where better to find an overnight stay on the road from South Africa to Namibia then the Narries Namakwa Retreat. situated between Springbok and Kleinzee on the minor tarred road the R355, some 27km west of Springbok and just before the spectacular Spektakel Pass. Situated in arid , bare hills , we arrived just before sunset and what a welcoming... More
