Welcoming staff, clean and comfortable accommodation, delicious food with a cosy and festive pub. A pot of gold at the end of a rainbow! Will definitely be back for more of this excellent hospitality.

We recently stayed in the area. We stopped in at "Notties Pub" for Lunch We quite a group with us!! We were met at reception and were offered to sit outside as this was a lovely Autumn Day. Our waitress Sli was efficient and the service was quick. The kids had the delicious Pizza. We all had various mains Open... More

My wife and I decided to break our trip home to Johannesburg after a week's vacation at our timeshare in Umhlanga. We love the KZN Midlands area. We decided to give the Notties Hotel a try. We loved the history surrounding the hotel, and all the pictures and stories that abound. The surrounding area is also full of history and... More

John the waiter was fantastic! food was good too. Hotel bath was marvellous! Rooms were comfy. We were just sad to heat the drunks spinning doughnuts in the car park as opposed to hearing the ghost at three in the morning....

I was on the recent bike race hat passed through town. Although the hotel is situated around the corner from some fairly run down buildings, the hotel itself was a wonderful oasis. There were renovations being done to the building but all the accompanying disruption can be easily off-set by the helpful, cheerful and superb staff. Mt sincerest compliments must... More

You were greated by cigarette smoke wafting threw from the bar. We were still willing to stay asked to see the room, was awful, looked like the bed had just been throwen... More

Shabby is the only word coming up to mind. Room nr 5 had a ceiling with very visible evidence from roof leakage whereas I prefer rather some stars. The carpet must have been a relic from before the first world war, disgusting completely worn out. Interesting you ask about the bathroom: a beautifull bath tub, however the floor covered with... Lovely railway hotel built in 1854. Décor shabby chic, sadly more shabby than chic but the original feel of the building has certainly been kept. The staff are friendly and efficient, the food is very good, the rooms, linen etc. are clean and the beds really comfortable. The pub is lively which provides a vibey ambiance. It can become very... Myself and my girlfriend recently enjoyed a 4 night stay at the Nottingham road hotel and we have promised ourselves to return trip. The noisiest hotel, I have stayed in in 40 years, both inside and outside. Never again!! Apart from drunken revellers, also, taxis, trains, etc, until 3 in the morning- absolutely appalling!Girl on reception looked out of her depth, also.
