Three weeks at this hotel has given me the opportunity to really appreciate all it has to offer. The staff, restaurant and the activities were outstanding. If you wish to experience the history of a Uruguayan property and have all your needs catered for at the same time...this is the place. Families, couples or singles. The buffet meals are outstanding.... More

Accommodations need to be improved. Hot water was poor and not warm enough. Central heating was not working. However the hotel staff provided an electrical heater to compensate. Additionally they offered to light up the fire place. Room which I stayed was not adequately soundproofed. Other than that the landscape and staff were great.

We spent a very relaxing 2 nights here. Gabriela proved to be a great manager and host, dealing with our last minute room change requests with no qualms at all and helped with impromptu afternoon tea, as well as other requests. From the start we felt like her guests not clients. The rooms in the main house were massive and... More

Stayed there on and off over last 12 years, we have an estancia close by. The very stately and romantic buildings, 1920s somewhat andalusian style, in the midst of the Pampa, therefore very serene, just the sound of wind and birds, it is all quite impressive and unique. I think it is the most stately Estancia of Uruguay. In case... More

The last 3 reviews describe San Pedro perfectly. After being in Punta del Este and other Uruguay beaches for a few days, a couple of relaxing days in the interior of the country were a welcome change. I loved the feel of this place - the horses, the immaculate tree-canopyed open areas, the great buffet meals. I didn't like my... More

Spent three nights in this resort with wife and another couple and had a great break in the most beautiful surroundings. The historical aspects and authenticity of the place made it like no other.

We were fortunate to stay at the property for 2 days in January. We had actually booked it for 3 days but decided to depart early, (See below). It is quite a trek from Montevideo but a beautiful drive thorough the seemingly never ending green hills and pastures. The last 14km after leaving the town of Cerro Colorado is on... More

If you go to UY, and I suggest you do...the whole country is beautiful and charming. We just spent 3 weeks there. The Estancia San Pedro de timote was magical, the wide open spaces, the horseback riding, the wonderful food and the charming people. Viewing the Southern Hemispher sky at night was breathtaking, my first time doing so.

Location: 2.5 hour drive from Montevideo (but REALLY far from Arapey, we found out). The area is pretty, but dry -- cattle and horses that you see in the pastures on the drive there are clearly starving from the drought. The road is fine until the last 2-5 km, I'd guess, which is a bumpy, rutted dirt road which took... More
