Decent hotel but I think it's worth half the money they charge. The old, wet carpet around the pool is quite scary indeed. We moved to the Provincia Express Hotel next day.

My wife and I spent two nights in Hotel Tajin and will be returning. It is a perfect location, and a great price ($35 US per night). The room was spacious and clean, although not luxurious, and all the amenities were very adequate. Every room has AC, cable TV, and wifi. However, the most important amenity in Mexico for us...

The best thing this hotel has is its location: right next to the zocalo. The rooms are large and the view is great.
Bathrooms are very basic and the overall style is totally outdated.
The restaurant in front has expensive prices for the offering but the one by the pool, in the back, had a better price/quality ratio. Otherwise plenty...

The best thing I can say about them is they gave me my money back one hour after I checked in because I left immediately to find another place to stay. Off-the-beaten path places deserve a lot of leeway, but ... as previously mentioned the smell in the room made it impossible for me to stay. And even though they...

I booked and payed on line, but when I arrived, there was no reservation for me, so I had to pay twice... and the worst thing is that it has nothing to do with the advertisment on the net.... It is true that you have Internet WIFI, but you have to share dirty rooms with beatles... NEVER AGAIN
I stayed for two nights in this hotel since I made Papantla a base for visting El Tajin. Room was clean and quiet at night, but in need of some renovation. Nice hot water shower. WiFi available. Staff speaks only spanish, which did not pose a problem for me. Very few tourists in Papantla, so the place seemed a bit...

I ranked this "Okay, but some problems," but that's being fairly generous. There may be no better alternative if you want to see El Tajin (which you should), but this place does have problems. The books say to make sure to ask for air conditioning, so we did - and that's one thing that worked fine (though I couldn't really...

We stayed at the Tajin because we wanted to visit the El Tajin archelogical site and stay in the vicinity without spending a fortune. On both counts we were successful: the hotel is a 15 minute drive away from El Tajin and the rate was definitely inexpensive, although it did not include breakfast.
This is where the good news ended....

After we had been there last year we went back to Papantla to show our nephew El Tajin and Papantla. We just stayed for 1 night and they showed us a room with 2 beds for 800 or an enormous triple room for 880 pesos. Without any problems 6 people could have slept there. Room has TV, airco, a nice...

The room we booked was not ready even though it was 6 pm when we arrived.
The shower leaked all over the floor, but we didn't dare move because this was one of the best rooms in the hotel. The price the attendant who took us to our room quoted us was $20 less than what we had booked online,...
