The Hotel Tajín is in the very center of Papantla, just off the zócalo (main square). Everything you could want or need is a stone's throw away: a late night supermarket, bus stations and collective taxis, and restaurants. The hotel itself has a good restaurant, open 7am-11pm, which offers a hearty breakfast buffet til 11:30 for 90 pesos. Highly recommended... More

The hotel is very conveniently located near the cathedral and the zocalo. Rooms are clean, the internet works, the AC a little noisy. There are many steps outside the front entrance, it is probably better to arrive from the back to avoid the climb (ask you taxi driver, if possible, if they know the back entrance - that will be... This is a cool little place and a good value at $35. Beds were comfy, showers hot, air cold and the pool very cool, and the place is clean. Location next to the square was a plus, made you feel like you could explore the town and not get lost. 24 hour guard on parking was also nice. It was... More

The staff at Hotel Tajin were very nice and helpful but they didn't speak English so you had to know some Spanish. They were helpful fixing our air conditioner. The pool was refreshing and the restaurant was good. We did not think the rooms were over-priced it was around $40 a night. The shower did not have much water pressure... More

I read the other reviews of this hotel before I booked a room there and was confused. I was more confused after I spent a week there while exploring the nearby ruins of Tajin an the vanilla plantations. The room was clean, and comfortable and reasonable at $40/night duriing the Christmas holidays. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel... More

The hotel did a great job on their website but it gives an impression of an decent-quality hotel. This is not the case. The hotel is outdated in every way. The window air conditioner barely works and smells of mildew. The bathroom has a large window for ventilation since the air conditioner is a window unit and doesn`t cool it... More

It is pricey compare to it's quality. Night is not working. The shower is bad. Air conditioner is noisy. The water in the pool was murky. We stayed for 2 nights. When we came back on the second day after a day out, we found that the room had not been cleaned. To be fair, other hotels in the town... More

Don't know why Papantla doesn't have more tourists. The zocalo is thriving, the markets are good, the people very friendly, the area beautiful, the voladores are amazing and El Tajin is a wonderful place to visit. The Hotel Tajin is a fine hotel, nothing too fancy, but clean, comfortable and very close to the zocalo. The front of the hotel,... More

Decent hotel but I think it's worth half the money they charge. The old, wet carpet around the pool is quite scary indeed. We moved to the Provincia Express Hotel next day.

My wife and I spent two nights in Hotel Tajin and will be returning. It is a perfect location, and a great price ($35 US per night). The room was spacious and clean, although not luxurious, and all the amenities were very adequate. Every room has AC, cable TV, and wifi. However, the most important amenity in Mexico for us...
