OK, I've been coming to Hotel Laguna for the last twenty five years, ever since I first visited from Belize in 1991. Back then the hotel was run by a no nonsense old timer called Don Pedro, and he ran a tight ship. Then about ten years or more ago, he sold it and I guess he retired. Then things... More

This hotel is all about the view and access to the laguna. The hotel itself is something out of the '40s or '50s and has apparently never once been remodeled. The rooms are seriously in need of a facelift and they should all have a/c. Ours didn't have a/c which was a terrible mistake. Even with the door to the... More

We stayed Friday & Saturday night on short notice. A bus full of locals arrived soon after we checked in and partied each evening until dawn. If I was younger might have joined them but not ideal for us with young family trying to sleep. Hotel has good aspect but much like the lake itself the 1970s glory is rather... More

First off, amazing view. However... This hotel was extremely disappointing. There were no in room safes present, leaving travelers no where to leave their passports and cash. You could swim or paddle the lagoon, but again we didn't feel safe leaving our travel documents unsecured. The front desk safe consisted of an envelope with our room number they placed in... More

The receptionists are not the friendliest, but they are old and that was excepted for me as I had read the reviews. We got a deal on a room that we loved. TIP ask for the private rooms, they have better views and you feel secluded. we didnt eat here as the food seemed lacking since no one was eating... More

Beautiful view, perfect weather, and not expensive. It was worth the 2 hour drive from Akumal. We rented a kayak for 100 pesos, we could swam on a beautiful side of the lagoon. One of the greatest things is that there is not a lot of tourists, so you can enjoy and relax out of the crowd.

Great view, good food, nice room for family of 9. Quite a few steps down to the lake. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Forget the cenote azul restaurant and eat at hotel or Centro. Kids loved to pool and fresh cut French fries from restaurant.

Hotel Laguna Bacalar is a gem and not to be missed if you are traveling anywhere near Lake Bacalar and Chetumal in Quintana Roo. The hotel sits right on the edge of Lake Bacalar. The prices are reasonable. The rooms are clean. And the view from any one of the rooms of the turquoise and blue waters of Lake Bacalar... More

OK, to start with: I've been going to Hotel Laguna since 1991, when my wife to be and I discovered it by chance. Then it was run by an old gentleman, Don Pedro, and his wife. They had high expectations of their staff. The place was run well, the rooms spartan but clean, the food simple but excellent. Don Pedro... More

Hotel perched on terraced cliff with absolutely gorgeous view of Laguna Bacalar, a fresh water lagoon composed of 300' deep cenotes. Each room has balcony overlooking lagoon. Kayaks available to rent. Pontoon boat rides. Swimming in lagoon or pool. Excellent for families. Quiet, clean hotel and town. Jolly, attentive staff. Good restaurant on premises or excellent ones close by. Staff... More
