As other reviewers have commented, this place was probably top notch in the 1970s - but feels and looks like it hasn't been refurbished since then. Arguably the best views in Bacalar, they really are outstanding, and our room was laguna-facing, which was a real treat. The room itself was shabby ... things peeling and scuffed, the bathroom was small... More

The lagoon is amazing, but this place needs a lot of work, it was probably amazing when built in1972. There are very few other choices for hotels in Bacalar, would make a better day trip from a near by place.

Very old hotel and very bad sound isolation. Can cearly hear others' talking on the balcony. I would stay in Chetumal instead if I visit the area again. Anyway, very nice view of Laguna Bacalar.

Reasonable price with a terrific view. The hotel is older but will always have a timelss view of the the beatiful colors of Lake Bacalar. It's a good spring board location to see the village of Bacalar, Chetumal and the ruins lining 186. The restaurant is adequate and very affordable and close enough to Cenote Azul and Bacalar town so... More

The Lagoon is the most beautiful water I have ever seen. But, the hotel is very old with no personality. If you don't like insects all over the place this is not the hotel for you. We went on a boat tour which made me forget about the accommodations. The Hotels front desk associates and etc, were very nice, cordial... More

Read the reviews and the place sounded OK. We rented a car and got the hell out of God forsaken Cancun...we pulled into Bacalar before dark and couldn't believe our good luck..this hotel is a little jewel perched high-a-top a lake that must have a half-a-dozen shades of blue on its warm, crystal clear waters...this place is old-school Mexico...neat little... What a great little hotel. Art Deco style on the side of one of the most gorgeous lakes that changes colors all day long. Martha and her staff were fabulous and I really enjoyed my stay. It was close to Chetumal where you can even take a ferry to Belize. The rooms were charming and the little balcony overlooking the... More

I've stayed here many times over the years and I always come away just a bit more peaceful and relaxed than when I arrived. I agree with the review of Quintanillaschmidt. This place is quirky, not fancy but it has great views, neat little corner spots every where you turn and I always love sitting on my little balcony taking... More

On a recommendation from another member we decided it was worth a look. After a few days rest at Puerto Morelos we headed out to the main highway to catch the Ado bus south to Laguna Bacalar/Belize.We made the 1st mistake getting off in tiny town of Bacalar. We grabbed a cab in search of an expats guest home,it was a cheaper... From the seashells on the ceiling, to the three (yes three) different gender restrooms in the restaurant, I think these idiosyncrasies just add to the other positive aspects of this hotel. It is dated, but it is clean. Great views of Lake Bacalar that just add to feeling relaxed. And that afternoon breeze...
