Probably the nicest place I've ever been at, counting the hostel and the location, Bacalar Lagoon is really an awesome magic place, and magic hostel has a great vibe to stay right next to the lagoon, it has a peer straight into the middle of the lagoon, great for a night swim or a refreshing dive during the day.

This hostel is expensive for a dorm. Normally, you can have a own room for this price. Breakfast is not included and I didn't found full waterbottles. The view and the dock is beautiful and nice for relaxing, kids or aswell for singles! There was one restaurant with typical food a la gran muy Rico ;)

My husband booked this, thinking a tent right on the lagoon would be fun. He was misguided. The tents are not right on the lagoon, they are an albeit short walk down a gravel/treed path away. The tents are all close together, meaning you hear everything. Luckily I didn't sleep much or I would have worried that my snoring kept... More

We got a private room in the cabana, but as it was just above the dorms and had another private room next door (separated by a temporary wall), we could hear everything. Everything. It didn't feel very private at all and we found ourselves whispering at 8pm. The wifi didn't work and we were told because this was Bacalar, but... More

We enjoyed our stay in Bacalar very much. A perfect place to chill and relax with nice sun and moon rises. The staff was friendly and helpful. Free drinking water and wifi in the reception area was provided. The hostal has direct access to the lagoon. Kitchen and toilet and shower and rooms were all very clean. Thanks to the... More

The place is very well located, right on the Laguna of Bacalar, and so the rates are pretty high for a camping. But i thought it would be worth it to have a direct access to the Laguna, which is the main attraction of the village. The reason why I gave this mark is that my boyfriend and I felt... More

I really enjoyed my stay at magic Bacalar however I can see that it wouldn't be right for everyone. The dorm room is so tightly packed with beds with mosquito nets that you can hardly slide down the middle to get into bed, that said it kinda works and I had a pretty decent sleep there. It feels a bit... More

My girlfriend and I stayed for two nights at Magic Bacalar, a quiet little place overlooking the lagoon. We had booked one of apparently two single rooms, both of them in the attic of a hut facing the lagoon. The room was small and mostly dark, but - as the rest of the property - very clean (thanks to a... More

Breakfast is excellent! Food is better the restaraunts in town. But, food is not always available, sometimes the kitchen is closed. Bathroom is shared and a bit far away from the dorm. But, all the trouble is worth it for the beautiful lake. The cabanas are cozy with nice atmosphere. I would stay here again.

The hostel is great, people are really nice and willing to help! Loved that the hostel is at an amazing part of the Lago, with place to swim and stay in the sun. The catamaran trip was awesome, Bacalar is such an amazing place! And the breakfast is good, perfect to start the day, coffee is reaaally good there. Near... More
