The only problem we had was trying to find this place. We drove to Bacalar town and asked around and found that it was about 20 miles back toward Tulum. My maps app didn't help as the dirt roads that take you back to the place aren't shown on the map. We found a really helpful woman and American man... More

We overnighted here one night in December. The drive in was great! Very out of the way. The property and lake were gorgeous. We kayaked and swam and couldn't of asked for a prettier setting with beautiful birds. I would suggest maybe bringing a cooler with you for drinks or snacks. There are no refrigerators in the rooms so it'd... More

We had a really relaxing time here with 3 families. Kayaking and sunning on the lagoon. You can do daytrips into the town of Bacalar, Cenote Azul, local ruins, etc. We hadn't done our homework and so didn't realize the location is somewhat remote and isn't well marked at the road. At first we worried that we might feel trapped... More

This is a stunning small resort on The Seven Color Lagoon. It is the only one in the over 42 mile length as the gov't has disallowed continued development. Therefor this is a very tranquil location; no motorized water vehicles of any sort. I visited here as part of a tour with Native Choice. No large tour buses could get... More

We visited Costa Maya on our cruise on Holland America, Ryndam. We booked a tour with The Native Choice and we are so glad that we did. We were with other travelers from other cruise ships but the group was small, about 12 travelers. The one hour comfortable drive past quickly as our tour guide, Rose, gave a narrative history... A simply stunning place to stay. Well of the beaten track right on the lagoon 35km north of Bacalar. Beautiful Mayan cabins, well equipped and comfortable surrounded by jungle on three sides and the lagoon on the other. Spent 4 nights here over the New Year, just relaxing, with a little bit of kayaking, enjoying the peacefulness. It's about 4km... More

We were visiting Costa Maya on a cruise stop, and our excursion included a visit to the Mayan ruins, followed by an unexpected visit to the Bacalar Lagoon resort. Although we only stayed there for the afternoon, it was just wonderful. We were fed an excellent Mexican lunch, with as many Piña Coladas and/or margaritas as we wanted! We had... More

I spent 3 days in this nice and cool resort and i really enjoyed my stay there. You can take a kayak and spend hours in a very beautiful and scilent area around the resort. If not interested you can spend plenty of time in front of nice lagoon reading your books etc.... the staff are very nice and ready... More

What a secluded piece of tranquility. After a short drive through the jungle on a bumpy road is paradise. Perfect for a lazy day in the hammock reading a book while the water laps gently at your feet, just what the doctor ordered for weary travellers. The individual cabanas are gorgeous and the setting is beautiful. The owner made us... More

Let me start the review by just expressing how pleased we were with every detail of our stay at Bacalar Lagoon Resort! From the room, the staff, the location, the local towns, the food, the views, and the water I can't not adequately state in words how exceptional the trip was! The remoteness of the resort was so peaceful and... More
