My first real "vacation" in Mexico. Much more beautiful than I expected. Rancho Encantado was like a touch of Tahiti....in Mexico! Accommodations were "tropical", but upscale. Service was excellent. All staff were eager to help. Easily accessible. Highway noise was unexpected, but not enough to disturb the peacefulness. Don't miss the sunrises!

A friend got married in Bacalar and the reception was at Rancho Encantado. Most of us stayed there and it is hard to imagine a more beautiful location. Great service, friendly and helpful staff, wonderful food. Great experience all around. Not to mention those hammocks and lagoon swings!!

Very bad rooms in garden view, dirty, they smell like urine, the bathrooms are disgusting, the service if awful and the breakfast is very poor. The view from the restaurant on the laguna is beautiful but that's it. Really dissapointed! The pictures on the website are way better than what you get when you arrive. Go to Hotel Toto Blue... Lovely trpical gardened, thatched roof lake-side resort; turqoise water with 2 hammock open cabanas, one on a pier over the water; great food daily with Angela being a 5* world class profesional server; not polished in details like a Four Seasons and highway noise is an issue but not a deal breaker if they put up some long bamboo tall... My and I stayed here for 1 night during our 2-week Yucatan adventure. Wish we had stayed longer. The location is fantastic, right on the laguna and easy to find off the highway. The grounds were pristine. Our cabana was more-than-enough size for the two of us and up to 4 people would have been comfortable in it. The views... More

Good things: The fact that Laguna Bacalar is right in front gets this place 75% of its stars. In addition, the landscaping--the swings over the water, the layout of bungalows, and the wonderful covered dock with hammocks--are beautiful. The rooms are large, modern, and well finished. WiFi works in the restaurant. Some of the staff are welcoming. Miguel, in particular,... More

We spent 2 nights a t Rancho Encantado. It is pure heaven. The cabanas are very nice but rustic. We did not need the air con at all. Ate at the restaurant and the food was excellent. Hope to return some time.

About 20 miles north of the Belize border on Mexico 307 is the village of Bacalar. Situated above a beautiful freshwater lake, the lake of the 7 colors. Rancho Encantado is 4 km north of the town. A romantic, rustic-luxury spot what we enjoyed. Something like 16 rooms, some palapas right on the water, others are air conditioned and 200... More

Beautiful lake view from the restaurant. At this moment however, it is very noisy as construction work is going on all day. Therefore make sure to phone ahead to verify whether the new building on the property is finished. The room looks nice. Only the ac make so much noise that you cant leave it on while sleeping. The rooms... More
