This hotel is fantastic, we booked for one night and after 20 minutes has juggled our trio around so we could come back in a few days! The location is stunning, I've never seen a lake so beautiful. The staff are really kind and helpful, without being over the top. Overall the hotel has been done to a decent standard,... More

we enjoyed our stay at Bacalar very much. The lake is gorgeous! The resort is nice and has a beautiful restraunt and bar on the water. Although compared to the rest of our travels in the area for 15 days, we found it to be the most expensive for food and drinks. Prices you pay in America. We stayed in... More

Yes the lagoon is beautiful and no doubt there are nice things to do, but we had only one uncomfortable night here: very hot and humid but no AC, just ineffectual ceiling fans, a less than comfortable bed, and a lot of road noise which disturbed the sleep of even my deaf companion. The service was friendly, but the food... More

This is a very nice hotel, great for relaxing and for enjoying the lagoon. The food and service are excelente! Don't forget to book a tour around the lagoon on the hotel's boat. In my experience this is better than the local tours.

If you are planning on spending 1 or 2 nights at Laguna Bacalar you definitely should stay at Rancho Encantado. Just ask for one of the huts with view to the lake and prepare for a magical experience. The pictures the hotel offers on its website don't give it justice: the reality is even better! The lake itself is nothing... More

This has to be one of the nicest hotels in the Yucutan peninsular, if you are looking for peace, beauty and a place to relax with excellent food. The modern beautifully decorated rooms are in thatched cabana's and have full air conditioning, wet room and balcony. We had the Flamingo room which was frankly gorgeous. The cabana's are located around... More

Bacalar is a nice village on one of Mexicos most amazing crystal blue water lagoon. Stories of pirates are told in the amazing fort downtown Bacalar. The hotel is a basic palapa hotel with a nice restaurant and a nice pool over looking the beautiful lagoon. Nice rooms for a 3 star hotel, but a lot of noise at night... More

My first real "vacation" in Mexico. Much more beautiful than I expected. Rancho Encantado was like a touch of Tahiti....in Mexico! Accommodations were "tropical", but upscale. Service was excellent. All staff were eager to help. Easily accessible. Highway noise was unexpected, but not enough to disturb the peacefulness. Don't miss the sunrises!

A friend got married in Bacalar and the reception was at Rancho Encantado. Most of us stayed there and it is hard to imagine a more beautiful location. Great service, friendly and helpful staff, wonderful food. Great experience all around. Not to mention those hammocks and lagoon swings!!
