Good things: The fact that Laguna Bacalar is right in front gets this place 75% of its stars. In addition, the landscaping--the swings over the water, the layout of bungalows, and the wonderful covered dock with hammocks--are beautiful. The rooms are large, modern, and well finished. WiFi works in the restaurant. Some of the staff are welcoming. Miguel, in particular,... More

We spent 2 nights a t Rancho Encantado. It is pure heaven. The cabanas are very nice but rustic. We did not need the air con at all. Ate at the restaurant and the food was excellent. Hope to return some time.

About 20 miles north of the Belize border on Mexico 307 is the village of Bacalar. Situated above a beautiful freshwater lake, the lake of the 7 colors. Rancho Encantado is 4 km north of the town. A romantic, rustic-luxury spot what we enjoyed. Something like 16 rooms, some palapas right on the water, others are air conditioned and 200... More

Beautiful lake view from the restaurant. At this moment however, it is very noisy as construction work is going on all day. Therefore make sure to phone ahead to verify whether the new building on the property is finished. The room looks nice. Only the ac make so much noise that you cant leave it on while sleeping. The rooms... More

This was my second time staying at this hotel in this year (2014). The place is enchanted and really enjoyable. The staff is always ready to help without hesitation. The restaurant is simply great. Small menu with amazing flavors of mexican traditional cuisine. This hotel is the perfect choice for relaxing, enjoying the view of the lagoon, sunrise and sunset... More

I can't recommend this hotel enough. If you want to experience real tranquility, this hotel is for you. Set on a beautifully stunning lagoon, you get to experience swimming in the warm multicoloured water whilst relaxing. They have hammocks to lie on all around the decks and also outside your beach hut. You get free kayaks and pedal boats to... More

my husband and I went to this beautiful place as the second place during our honeymoon last May. after tulum. Bacalar itself is amazing! however you need to appreciate the Mexican culture and look for quiet place and natural beauty. The hotel is beautiful, sounds from natural surroundings day and night are incredible. At the check in we were told... More

Rooms / cabanas on the lake are the best option here. They are very well appointed, especially given the price range. The staff for the most part were all very nice, the lady at the front desk was helpful, but could attempt to be a little more welcoming. Food was pretty good quality, but there was some rather odd music... More
