The many ecstatic reviews are correct: if you're seeking to recpature life as it must have been in an Irish country house party any time between the late 18th and the early 20th century, this is your place. It's not so much a hotel in the traditional sense as a rather grand Georgian mansion which welcomes guests. Afternoon tea or... more

I booked it without knowledge or recommendation. I had other plans in the Sligo region, and chose the opportunity to seek a quiet, special place to relax and unwind a few days beforehand. Their website looked promising… small luxury hotel, deep in the countryside, that seemed keen to provide good food. Thrilled with my decision, I then found myself trying... more

We had the fortunate experience to find ourselves in this beautiful, original 1774 Georgian mansion last weekend. The House was built by Simon O'Hara's ancestors and he now runs and lives in this property, alongside a working farm, a market garden and a beautiful bevy of deer, soon to be venison! There are stunning bedrooms, all ensuite bar one, many... more

This was our first stay in Ireland before starting on a 12 day whirlwind tour. We stayed at a variety of castles, hotels and B&B's. Simon was a wondeful host and extremely helpful offering advise on the area. The guest rooms were immaculate and charming. Our stay was a wonderful mix of modern facilities and old world charm. The breakfast... more

Coopershill is a rarity. It's a stunning Georgian building, timelessly kept by a devoted family for generations. Simon, the current 'lord of the manor' is young enough to relate to folk like us yet obviously wise enough to run the house is the manner it deserves. We felt totally at home, yet it required little effort to imagine it was... more

My wife and I have just returned from Coopershill, a beautiful Georgian House set in stunning grounds and run by the charming O'Hara family. We were after a relaxing break in quiet surroundings with the opportunity to enjoy some good food and spend some quality time together - Coopershill delivered that for us and more. On arrival we were met... more

My partner booked this as a relaxing surprise for my birthday. We've been to a number of quiet retreats, however nothing as dull as this one. Being in our early 30s we found the place far too quiet and the nearest village left a lot to be desired so we didn't venture out at night. Not going out meant we... more

Coopershill was an incredibly wonderful Irish experience! The staff was so competent and friendly; Simon O'hara, the owner/manager was so helpful in suggesting and advising daily activities that our group of 18 had a marvelous time----all day long. Also, I should mention that the meals at Coopershill----starting with breakfast, ending with an unbelievable 5 course dinner----were fabulous! Our stay here... more

My wife and I stayed here in July 2008 and wished that we could have stayed longer. We were in the one room that was not en suite the first night due to being booked up (the room was lovely but my wife wanted an en suite room). We called while touring the countryside and asked Simon if we could... more

We stayed 3 nights in the spacious Venetian Room in this beautiful Georgian country house set in very peaceful countryside. Thanks to its charming host Simon and the delightful Alice (his spaniel), a stay at Coopershill is like visiting friends. Unlike many other places we stayed, all the guests chatted freely to each other, creating a house-party like atmosphere. Many... more
