Our first visit to this tucked-away retreat overlooking green valleys on the edge of Gouy St Andre. On arrival we were greeted by the charming and enthusiastic chef/patron, Sebastien and shown our room (all ground-level with outside seating space over-looking the valley) which was stylishly decorated, very well equipped with good lighting, air-con and a very comfortable bed with good... Sebastian is an excellent host and seems to be a master of all trades!!! Don't expect olde worlde charm here though as the rooms are very modern and comfortable. The restaurant is also very modern but we thought the food was good. If you like French cooking, presented very well then you will enjoy it. The service was excellent but... More

I cannot fault this little boutique hotel and have been really surprised to see that someone has given it just 1 star for their stay. I do hope that my review provides some reassurance to potential guests that that rating is in the minority of what most previous guests feel. The hotel is situated approximately 1 hour from the Eurotunnel,... More

Sandrine and Sebastian are obviously so proud of what they have achieved and quite rightly so. Although at first sight, the hotel building looks a little austere, the rooms are really delightful, so clean and very comfortable with a large bathroom and plenty of space. There sense of style is evident in the charming restaurant where Sebastian demonstrates his considerable... More

This place seems to be a hybrid of chambres d'hotes (with 8 rooms, all on the ground floor) and aspiring hotel, and not really either. The rooms are well-appointed and newly decorated, though the whole place is a little sterile and soulless, like an upmarket motel. There is none of the warmth of a chambres d'hotes. The welcome we received... More

Returning each evening, after a fun filled day out, to this lovely little hotel was pure bliss! The location is perfect - there is the convenience of being a little more than one hour from the ferry port (Calais) combined with the luxury of residing in the peaceful French countryside. The style of the hotel is modern, boutique French at... More

We stayed at Le Clos de la Prairie for a night on our way back to England after a couple weeks in the Loire. As such, the location was great - nice, peaceful and rural, but only an hour or so from Calais. We were travelling with 2 children and stayed in the family room with bunk beds. The room... More

We first visited seven years ago when it was just a restaurant with Sebastian serving wonderful food. Returning to house hunt in the area we stayed for two nights. The food is still amazing, The service and welcome genuine .Both Sandrine and Sebastian speak English if required. The rooms are spotless with a lovely bathroom and rainwater shower. Fabulous break... More

This is an excellent small hotel, run by young husband and wife team Sandrine and Adam, who are very friendly and helpful hosts and try very hard to make your stay pleasurable. We have stayed twice and are planning another visit in the autumn. It is now one of our regular places to stay in France. We love the modern... More

Spotlessly clean, tasteful modern decor, friendly helpful staff, idyllic rural setting. Evening dinner was a delight (local lobster) - super comfortable bed, crisp sheets, all at very reasonable price - 1 hour drive from Calais. What a find!
