I guess we were just lucky chosing Clingendael. We were looking for somewhere nice as a base to watch some Cricket at Pallekelle, and stumbled across it, not knowing that it was perfectly located for the Cricket ground, the right side of Kandy. I have to confess to being somewhat nervous on the way in, as we drove on numerous... More

For clients who wish to stay in a wonderful Colonial home and feel as though they are re-living the Days of the Raj with all mod cons, this is the place. There are only five rooms here. The Master Suite lies upstairs and is woody and large. Close by is a lovely suite with a massive bedroom. The Red Room... More

Situated in the grounds of the Victoria golf club, but placed high above it with spectacular views of the valley below, this small boutique hotel has only 5 rooms so you will never be disturbed by hordes of other guests. Owned by a Dutchman and managed by a Swiss lady called Anne Marie this exclusive hotel runs on oiled wheels.... More

We are in the hotel business and as such, are fortunate to have stayed in many luxury properties around the world. This was our first trip to Sri Lanka, organised by Sri Lanka in Style, who did a great job. It was a family holiday with our children aged 8, 11 and 13. Clingendael was by far the best hotel... This newly built small hotel, about 25 minutes outside Kandy, is kitted out with the original furniture and accessories from a 200 year old Dutch colonial house. It is in a lovely elevated position and our room was very comfortable and homely, and the staff are eager to please. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre.

This is one of the most incredible plaaes we have ever stayed in and we travel all over the world. From the moment we arrived, to the time we left 5 days later, we were treated like royalty. Nothing was too much trouble. It is very similar to an old colonial mansion and there are little bells everywhere to summon... More

Set on a hillside this former colonial mansion must be one of the best places to stay at in the Kandy area. I have to say that I really loved the design and feel of the place. We were lucky enough to stay in the Red Room which is delightfully furnished and on two levels. The room has it's own... More

Loved it! Fabulous welcome, superb staff - attentive but unobtrusive. Exquisite food - leave your diet at home. Fabulous room - the Brown Room. The only one with a bath, but don't book it for that - it's so big it would probably take half a day to fill. The room was brilliant, though - very colonial. Nice private balcony... More

We were the only guests at this small boutique hotel and felt totally at home there. The staff were extremely friendly and could not do enough for us, including ironing shirts at a moments notice. The setting was totally relaxing and the food was a very high standard. It's always the little things that set the best hotels apart from... More

Location: This secluded hotel, nestled in greenery, overlooks a beautiful valley. Quiet, peaceful, it feels like a mountain retreat. It is about 45 minutes away from Kandy, so if you're looking to venture into town a lot, you may find the driving distance tiring. If you're just looking to get away from it all, you will be perfectly happy. Staff:... More
