This is a small colonial bungalow estate run by an English couple. Our garden room was lovely with a fabulous view down the valley. All staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Almost exclusively English guests here and there was a certain Englishness here about the feel of the place. Gardens are beautiful and surroundings stunning. Up in the hills so a... More

Our second time to Ellerton and nice to see the same faces still there including Ben the wonderful labrador. The food and accommodation are hard to beat it really is such a relaxing place to spend a few days. Deepika and the guys do all they can to make you feel at home. We stayed in one of the new... My wife and I loved this place. A bit tricky to get to but don't be put off. Lovely atmosphere and feel. Very pleasant lady owner, who ran a tight ship. The service was excellent. I didn't realise how good it was until I experienced other places later in the trip. Great food & sensible set up re 'free' drinks.... More

You can't really better Cary and Richard Goode's management of this delightful small hotel in the hills above Kandy. Service runs smoothly, drinks and meals are on hand and beautifully presented, excursions are well organised and not 'touristy' in any way. The chef is excellent and the outside dining room most attractive. The gardens and swimming pool clean and well... More

We felt like we were house guests of Richard and Cary - not a bit like staying in a hotel. This is a small, charming , relaxed place to spend a couple of days. We met some very interesting people over drinks on the terrace, it's that type of place where you can chill out and be spoilt! Just needed... More

A few kilometers from busy Kandy you could be on another planet, remote but with spectacular views and lush vegetation all around, it makes you think "why on earth do we have to go back into the crowd?" We even gave a miss to the world famous Botanical Garden, overcrowded because of a festivity period. One nice touch and a... More

We spent three nights at this lovely small family run hotel set in the hills behind Kandy. It is a wonderful place. The gardens are superb and the swimming pool very pleasant with amazing views down the valley towards Adam's Peak. The staff are absolutely charming, as are the owners, Richard and Cary. The choice and quality of food is... More

We had a lovely stay here. Each morning when we got up and opened our door we had the most beautiful and heavenly view into the valley. Ellerton is set high up in the hills away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy. We were greeted upon arrival by Richard, one of the owners and he was a great source... More

On advice from our tour operator we spent 3 nights here which on reflection - for us anyway - was too long. We were on a two week tour and this was our second port of call. There's so much to do and see in Sri Lanka we felt that we would have been better cutting our stay here to... More

I'm very pleased you so enjoyed your stay at Ellerton, and thank you for the various comments you made. However, I am puzzled by the suggestion that two days at Ellerton would be sufficient. I would agree that, if your only aim is to see as much of Sri Lanka as possible, then moving on each morning does make sense... More

A lovely homely hotel in the hills above Kandy converted from what was formerly a tea planter’s bungalow but with several extra rooms added. Our room was superb with a wonderful view down over the valley below. The all inclusive format meant that guests tended to congregate for drinks before dinner and that we tended to dine as a group...
