We were two couples travelling in low season (rainy November). Despite our arrival during a torrential downpour, we found shelter, warmth, and an unforgettable experience at Tonnara di Scopello. The caretaker Mohammed was very welcoming and was able to communicate well enough in French, which made up for our very limited Italian vocabulary. We stayed in two sea-front rooms: Ancore... More

It is really a heartstoppingly beautiful place. and being so close to the sea makes it more so. The history also. However. for the money there are a few major niggles. the beach is invaded every day and these fellow tourists frequently invaded our apparently private space to take photos, nosey around etc. The Taverna B in my opinion has... The location of this place is really lovely, and for those looking for a serene spot it couldn't get much better. I liked the apartment (in the administrator's section), and the simple furnishings have a lot of character that suited the place very well. For wanting to read a book and get a lot of sun and turn off the... More

We stayed here for 5 nights in September and, honestly, could have stayed longer. I'm utterly baffled by some of the reviews on here regarding the Tonnara. It's made painfully clear - before you even book the accomodation - what you should expect. As an old tuna fishery, Mohammaed, the owner, has tried to maintain its traditional appearance. And it... like nearly all the other reviews, we have to agree that the location is super, but the rest is quite poorly going to a bad rating for the rooms. We were allowed to take the dog with, they didn't mind when we asked when booking the place. But having a dog there is a different story, the lady owner Danielle,... More

We absolutely loved this place and so we'd like to keep it for ourselves! The location is just beautiful, the sea is emerald blue and clear, we stayed in a wonderful room with direct access to the front of the old factory building and the tiny private beach. It's true that it's basic, but it has bags of charm. Mohammed... More

The location and La Tonnara are unique, fantastic. The rooms are very poorly furnished - basically you pay for the location and the priviledge of being in a historic building. Unfortunately, the very small beach of La Tonnara is invaded, during the day, by an army of day visitors (who pay a few euros for access), who practically prevent the... More

About one hour west of Palermo, this ex tuna factory has been made into a great little hotel. It's not luxurious, just simple and casual, and perfect for a lazy few days. Many of the original features like the old floor tiles has been maintained. Our room was large and even had a small kitchen, and looked out onto the... More
