The chateau and grounds are simply lovely, with A faded charm fabulous art and furniture and feel like French aristocracy for a few days! Count Remy and his family are great hosts, although expect a little eccentricity.

M. Remy Scitivaux is a very hospitable generous host. Interesting substantial four course dinner with very good local wine and excellent estate calvados as an avec. We enjoyed the house with its wide corridors filled with authentic tapestries, books, paintings, furniture, drapes and splendid views. A delightful historic setting. An enjoyable one night stay.

We stayed at the château on our journey down to the Dordogne this summer. We received a very warm welcome from Remi, the host, and his family and were shown to our very comfortable rooms before enjoying a very pleasant aperitif with Remi and learning more about his family and the history of the château. The dinner was delicious and... More

We stayed here on the way back to the UK on the recommendation of a friend, as we had a small dog with us and required a pet friendly stop. It exceeded expectations. We received a warm welcome from our host Count Remi, and soon found ourselves enjoying a drink with him in a large and elegant drawing room in... More

We stayed 2 days and the experience was rather unforgettable thanks to the excellent service of the hotelier Count Remi de Scitivaux and his family (6 yrs old daughter Charlotte helped us carrying our bags to our room!). We spent a very pleasant evening with the other guests of the Chateau and Mr de Scivitaux himself (btw, no obligation to... More

We stayed in Room 18 in the Coach House in order to go to the 2012 Le Mans Classic and it was not a nice experience in any way! As soon as we stepped through the door we were hit by a strong smell of damp that was apparent for the whole weekend, and gave my wife and I sore... More

Practical location if you are visiting Le Mans and the Sarthe area. Chateau has nice grounds and you're free to walk around. Room nicely decorated. Well-used mattress did not allow us a decent night of sleep. Did not stay for dinner as we wished to dine out in Le Mans, but in any case there is only one big table... More

My husband, son & I were the only guests for the 1 night we spent in this gorgeous chateau &, wondering around the halls & grounds, it felt like Sleeping Beauty's castle. We had the Wing Room which was really the whole of the end of a wing with 2 bedrooms - 1 with twin beds & the other with... More

We wanted a stop for a night en route from the south to the north of France. Le Mans was the ideal spot on the map, so it was a question of finding a suitable hotel. I did not fancy the "out of a packet" hotels that seem to litter this area, presumably to cater for the transient guests like... More
