We came to hammer house for a quite weekend away. We were a bit put off at first with the distance from Sheffield:( but was well worth the long travel down:)I fell in love with the house and the deco inside & out. The staff were more than happy to help with anything. Overall it was a fantastic break. The... More

We spent 2 nights at Hammet House as a special treat after surgery and a long recovery period, before continuing our usual camper van holiday. It was special in every way, a beautiful, spacious bedroom overlooking the croquet lawn. The service and staff were first-rate. We ate in the restaurant on the first night where the food was good but somewhat... More

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights on a Secret Escapes deal. All the staff were friendly and efficient, the food was very good, well-presented and reasonably-priced. Excellent selection available for breakfast. Our room (No 8) was immense and superbly equipped, with a huge and comfortable bed. We would recommend it.

Hammet House seems to be in a process of transforming from a (perhaps rather dowdy) traditional country house hotel into something rather more stylish, along the lines of the Soho House group's Babington House near Bath (or did I just imagine that the 'H' logo owes something to their branding). This transformation is clearly ongoing, so my initial delight at... More

We have just experienced the most amazing stay in this boutique style hotel. The furnishings and decor are just wonderful. The staff are extremely helpful, polite, welcoming and delightful. The food was brilliant.

We stayed in their best room which was very old and very nice, the gardens around this old place are really something else. The staff were great, the service was excellent, the breakfast was amazing but the dinner i had a slight issue with. We ordered the fillet steak which cost us 24 pounds each, the steak was well cooked... More

This is Castell Malgwyn (now renamed) that sits on the banks of the queen of Welsh rivers The Teifi. Set in its own grounds, it is simply unique and atypical of what a country hotel is about. The river is a salmon and sewin (sea trout river) and despite reading a post on this site that it is "good for... More

As soon as we arrived we felt at ease. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Amazing setting and grounds. Food to die for!! We were given a complimentary upgrade to a fabulous room which was a lovely surprise. Only stayed one night this time, but it was just what the doctor ordered......left there feeling totally spoilt and very relaxed. Will... More

We stopped here for one night as part of a trip down the river Teiffi from Cenarth. Location is great and we just pulled our kayaks out of the river and the staff kindly put them away for us! A little sign on the river would be useful :) Staff were brilliant, they did everything they possibly could to make... More

This lovely hotel was in an idyllic situation on the bank of the river Teifi near Cardigan, The cooking is of a high standard and everything was spotlessly clean, the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Four days wasn't nearly enough time to experience all that the area has to offer. While at the hotel we attended a wedding, the... More
