I have had the recent pleasure to spend more than a week at La Madelene. It was a wonderful experience. It met all of my vacation requirements: a get-away experience where you feel pampered, but not smothered. The food was delicious, always served on time and beautifully prepared. Wine came with each meal and were were always given a brief... More

The owners, Philip and Jude's company was delightful. They're very knowledgable about the area and local wines. Their freshly prepared local meals and paired wines were outstanding! The hotel was absolutely charming and, the beautifully maintained grounds were stunning. I had a true taste of life in Provence! I would highly recommend staying there, and look forward to returning. Thank... More

We recently had the pleasure to stay with Philip and Jude at La Madelene for two days of incredible wine tours, wonderful hospitality and amazing food. Philip knows all of the best wine domaines, the owners, and the important geology of the land. We were able to meet some of France's most honored wine makers and had private tours, talks... More

My one week stay at La Madelène was the highlight of my visit to France. I was greeted on arrival with such relaxed friendliness by Jude and Phillip that this set the tone for the whole experience. La Madelène was originally a 12th century priory and my room was in the old part of the building. It was totally charming,... More

This is a very pleasant place which is quite close to some of the great wineries and interesting villages of Provence. The village of Maulecene is itself fairly unexciting and this B & B is a few kms from the town. We were there on a yoga retreat and it was a lovely location for a small group. The rooms... More

We stayed one week with a cycling camp in June 2015 and were so impressed! The house is beautiful, clean, cool on hot days, clean pool, quiet, serene, and excellent food! Jude and Phillip are wonderful people and their passion for the food, atmosphere, wine comes through in every way. Once you are there, you wont want to leave!

Between Phillip's incredible knowledge of wine and Jude's phenomenal cooking, these two make the perfect hosts. Not to mention, La Madelene is just gorgeous. The property itself is so secluded and romantic. The rooms look like they could come straight out of the pages of Architectural Digest. And the terrace is a dream. Dining and drinking al fresco each night... More

We were a group of six persons participating in the Truffle & Wine Tour of La Madelène in January 2015. After arriving on the Wednesday in the late afternoon and settling in to the beautiful individually decorated rooms, we enjoyed a Champagne aperitif with different snacks, amongst others brioche with homemade truffle butter. Afterwards we had one of Jude’s superb... More

I stumbled upon this great place a few years ago while chasing the Tour de France. The rooms are beautiful, each one slightly different than the next, but with equal amenities. The grounds are perfect for a walk, yoga or run and the swimming pool is perfectly crisp. The Bike: I'm an lifestyle cyclist (love to ride - love to... More

My week at Le Madelene was an experience of a lifetime. I was there in May for a week of plain air painting. Painting was only part of the pleasures. The charm and history of this beautiful building was an unexpected delight. Jules and Phillip, with their quiet presence were the perfect hosts. They were both so very good at... More
