After scouring the internet for a suitable B&B in Tuscany we decided upon Palazzo Malaspina in San Donato in Poggio (about halfway between Florence and Siena). Having a B&B ourselves in Australia we knew what we wanted and had high expectations. I would describe this property using words like, it offers old world charm though with excellent thoroughly modern amenities,... More

This was our 2rd time staying at Palazzo Malaspina & we added 2 days to our trip just so we could stay here & experience Maria's wonderful warmth & hospitality. As many have said the palazzo is beautiful, with each of the 5 rooms tastefully decorated with antique furniture & having a distinct character; the breakfasts are plentiful & made... More

The main reason we went to Italy this summer was the Palazzo Malaspina. We arranged our entire 19 day trip around a five night stay at the Palazzo Malaspina. It looked absolutely lovely on their website and it is set in a small Tuscany village which is what we were looking for. Our expectations were very high and I can... More

I traveled by myself and wanted a centrally located village to see Tuscany sites. The palazzo was perfect. Great hosts, beautiful room and the town is so quaint. Great location close to San Gimignano. My single room had a small balcony overlooking the mountains. The town is about a mile from the highway and rural. The palazzo was built in... More

Maria provides excellent accommodation in this quirky little town. Our room was spacious and comfortable and a sumptuous breakfast was provided by Mary each morning. There are lots of options for dinner at one of the many local restaurants but don't look to eat before about 8pm when the sleepy town wakes up. Not much to see other than tight... More

Dear Phil, Thank you for sharing your experience at Palazzo Malaspina on TripAdvisor! San Donato in Poggio is a quite village with a lot of stories to know about his medieval history. Probably, next time, I can suggest a local guide to better explore the area :) In Italy we usually start dinner after 8 pm, specially in summer when... More

Palazzo Malaspina was a beautiful tranquil hillside resort that was formally a small palace of San Donato. Owner Maria and her staff was helpful, informative and warm. The room was beautiful, with jacuzzi. It was one of the most relaxing place ever. It was an easy drive from florence and near to Greve, Seina and San Gimignano, all the attractions... More

We had four nights in the large room overlooking the square. Even on busy nights with windows closed noise was not an issue. Mary and Maria (the owner) are serving at breakfast which is fresh and plentiful. Trip advice was usually sought at breakfast and Maria makes fresh cakes to keep you going throughout the day. Rooms are clean and... More

Palazzo Malaspina was our first stop and it really spoiled us for the rest of the trip. Maria was just wonderful, caring, very informational, rooms were spotless and breakfast absolutely delicious. Maria even went out of her way to purchase some decaff coffee for me. Both Maria and Mary helped us in so many ways but most importantly in making... More

The Malaspina B&B was our favorite lodging of the entire 2 week trip in Italy. The Inn itself is beautiful. We had a long view and of the Courtyard(which was perfect to indulge in the excellent Chianti). Mary & Maria prepared outstanding breakfast which far exceeded all other breakfasts. It is nestled in the beautiful village of San Donato and... More

We spent 2 nights at Palazzo Malaspina and it fully lived up to our expectations. We arrived earlier than anticipated and were warmly greeted by Maria with cappuccino and cake. Our room (3) was very spacious with a large bathroom - separate jacuzzi bath and shower, and with views over the countryside. The king size bed was very comfortable. A... More
