It was above and beyond our expectations. The charming scenery. The apartment was great, spacious and well equipped. Greatest pleasure was to sit on the porch in the evening, Chianti wine and enjoy the enchanting atmosphere. Marco was charming and helpful.

If you want to experience the Tuscan way ,then this is best introduction you will find. Halfway between Florence and Siena and market towns close by. We did Lucca, Pisa, Vinci, Greve and many others. San Donato is a lovely little village with enough amenities and some good restaurants. Make sure you go to Cecchini Pizzeria and the Poggiobonsi is... More

A place for a perfect vacation. The Poggio d'oro is outside of San Donato (a very nice and typical small village), you must walk about a km to the village. (Go to the "main square" /it's cca 70-80 sqm/, and have a dinner in Andrea's pizzeria...he is a spacial merry guy, and the piizas are perfect Recommend the pizza mascarpone...)... More

From the outset, can I say that my user name ( which I've tried several times to change! ) does not reflect the wonderful holiday my husband and I had this month at Poggio D'Oro - our fourth visit to Marco's! Often in the past, when we have returned to a property, we have been disappointed, but when my husband... More

Friends recommended staying at Poggio D'Oro and we are so pleased we did. We stayed there for a week in early September. You do need a car, though, as there is no public transport nearby. Our villa was fully self-contained with everything you could want, plus a stunning view of picture postcard scenes from your front door and verandah. Marco... More

Perfectly situated a few minutes from the highway to Florence and Sienna, but feels totally isolated. Although the place contains several units, you feel like you are in your own private property. Each morning we had our coffee and amazing croissants (bought from a close village) on the large porch, facing the most spectacular view, listening to the birds singing.... More

We stayed at Poggio d'Oro for a week in September 2012. It was heavenly. We werea group of eight (including 2 teenagers and one child) so we rented Villa le macine (fit for 6) and Macine 2, just down the stairs (fit for 2-3). We felt like we were Medicis for one week. We loved everything about Poggio d'Oro -... More

We traveled the world, not really knowing that we where just looking for a place to come back. We finally found this place in the heart of Tuscany. The family Bianchini, represented by the host Marco has been an example of hospitality with a capital 'H'. The views are astonishing and the apartments are clean, spacy and very comfortable. A... This visit to the Poggio d'Oro in San Donato was our fourth holiday here, our first being in 2002 as a honeymoon and now is extended to include our two young daughters. Poggio d'Oro is set in a simply stunning hillside location overlooking vast expanses of unspoilt Chianti countryside. From each villa / apartment there are panoramic views taking in... More

Poggio d'oro is situated in the Chianti area. The apartments is nice, clean and spacious. All with stunning views. Swimmingpool with great view on the area. The owners have a lot of information about the area and great tips for eating and winetasting. Poggio d'oro feels like coming home!
