Our four nights in mid July at Chateau des Riffets will be a beautiful life time memory for our family. The rooms are decorated in a genuine and stylish manner and are very comfortable. The location allowed us to visit Le Mont Saint Michel to the west and Honfleur to the northwest east. With guidance from Anne-Marie and Alain we... More

Alain and Anne-Marie are excellent hosts, with lots of local knowledge to share. Recommended restaurants were good, although some way from the chateau. We were very lucky in the weather this July which has been very warm, so returning to Riffets to the swimming pool was a real pleasure. We felt well looked after and really enjoyed our stay. We had a great stay with the Cantels. The house is lovely, it's a proper country house. The rooms are big with wonderful decorations. We came with our 3 children who thought it was a real treat. We deliberately didn't want an Ibis or Novotel experience and were rewarded with stories that we'll talk about for ages. A wonderful start... More

To really experience the flavor of France, we (a family of 4 with 2 children, ages 7 and 9) wanted to stay in an old French country house rather than an impersonal hotel in the city. Also, we had never traveled abroad with our children and since we do not speak French very well, we thought having a local contact... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights during the low season in March-2013 and enjoyed the peacful (we very the sole guests) and our very friendly hosts who made us feel warmly welcomed. A charmimng old castle and a cosy environment. We were served a nice breakfast with tea or coffee, freshly baked bread every morning and a different... More

Not the easiest place to find because it is not actually in B-s-L and there are few signs until one is right on top of the place and were very faded to the point of being almost illegible with one made of cardboard, half hanging off another sign. Once through the gates the short drive up to the chateau was... More

We stayed here one night on our road trip through Brittany and Normandy. It was beautifully peaceful. M and Mme CANTET are delightful and speak beautiful English, even though we also spoke French with them. The room was decorated with old warm furniture and art work, and the views out to the meadows were wonderful. We were shown the sheep... More

We stayed here two nights with my wife and two children (aged 11 and 13) The location just south of Caen is perfect with all the major sites close by (Caen, Memorial War/Peace Museum, the D-Day beaches, War Cemeteries, and Bayeux. The chateau stands in a very secluded spot in a huge park just outside a small village. There's a... More

I can only reiterate the superlatives of the previous reviewer. We were two couples traveling together in Normandy and stayed two nights, and would have loved to stay more. The grounds are gorgeous, the house stunning, the rooms large and comfortable. There is a covered swimming pool. There is free hi-speed WIFI in the house. Alain and Ann-Marie were perfect... More

My wife and I stayed here one night in May during a month long visit to France. It is an old chateau located in the village of Bretteville sur Laize, a few miles south of Caen. Built on the foundation of an early William the Conqueror hunting lodge and surrounded by a pretty green park, it was damaged in the... More
