The food was nice, and the bar staff & waitresses were pleasant. But that was it sadly. A very thin veneer covering a pretty shabby experience. I had booked two nights on a voucher, so I was not paying full price. Should that matter? I don't think it should, but I felt that it did, in the way that I... More

We spent the night in this horribly spooky place although some might use the word "quaint". A really peculiar establishment where we were led up a windy stair to a very dark room where daylight could be seen coming in through the ivy covered window pane. No proper shower and to be honest, if it wasn't for the fact that... More

The Wild Duck was recommended to us but we were very disappointed in our visit for lunch. Service was ok. Food very overpriced, fish and chips nothing special at all. Better fish and chips at the Friar Tuck in Cirencester. Partners burger was good though. Better sticking to pubs in Cirencester. Though a very quaint pub from outside and lovely... More

Visited during the Off Season and had a lovely clean room which was well equipped with TV, tea making facilities etc. The whole place was very quiet, so we found it nice and peaceful and enjoyed looking around the old bar built in the 1500s (a taxidermists dream) The location is okay, ideal if you have a car. We didn't... More

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights bed and breakfast on 14th and 15th October. We arrived to an open fire, gentle chatter from customers, and a lovely warm glow throughout the vast 16th century inn. We were shown to our room which was in the newer part of the inn (glad as I'm spooked by sleeping in old... More

Overnight stay celebrating an 18th birthday. The rooms were very comfortable and the food was first class. Catered for a party of 30, made a huge effort setting up the tables for the occasion, all the meals came out together and were cooked to perfection. Entertainment was also superb with dancing until the early hours. Delicious breakfast in the morning... More

Having driven past many times it was time to sample the restaurant at The Wild Duck for a family birthday lunch. A simple menu, with few specials accommodated our party. It is a bit pricey, and the imposition of a fixed 10%service charge regardless of the service. Overall, pretty good.

So pleased we didn't make a decision from the reviews - most of them are unfairly critical. We went on courtesy of Wowcher and it was worth every penny. Oozing with character and warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff were lovely and the food was great too. Intend to go again. It would be good for members of public to do... More

If you want pristine, modern, minimalistic and dull then this place is not for you. If however you love olde worlde, quirky, interesting, atmospheric, a place full of character, really really dog friendly then this is for you. My husband and I stayed just for 1 night and had a great time. The bar and restaurant areas are amazing. Old... More
