We spent a wonderful night here with our son and took in the full experience - dinner, B&B and stayed in one of the old railway carriages which were full of character (if a little cramped!). We had ensuite facilities which included the old fashioned railway folding sink. Lots of really quaint features. We were there in green season (hot)... More

we stayed one night in one of the air conditioned huts which was good as it was fairly warm. I would have liked to stay in one of the unique railway carriages, but they are not air conditioned so an option for a different season. The location of this resort is spectacular with well marked walks ranging from 1.5km to... More

The whole place is run down and tired. The staff were just nowhere to be seen however once located were helpful. As the tours to the Tubes were limited to just the opening of the Tube due to dangerous conditions, we decided to give it a miss. A real shame as I was lookimng forward to getting right inside but... I was a little unsure about visiting Undara with it being Summer (bloody hot) and the looming wet season. However by choosing to do our walks in the morning or afternoon found heat was no problem and they have a very nice pool to relax by and to cool down. We had a storm around 4.30pm that cooled the place... More

An incredible venue run by passionate people with every attention to detail. The site is remote, peaceful, airy, cool (because of the altitude), homely - but a true outback experience. The accommodation suits all, from camping (very cheaply), to the novelty of sleeping in 'Savanah' rail carriages from the turn of the 19th century. The bar area is a similar... More

Wonderful tour by guide Kane. So informative. Really knew his stuff and and was very helpful in all aspects of the caravan park. Shame the campfire poetry etc was no longer available. Our fault, late in the season, but there were probably enough people around to have one. Would have added to the experience

Stayed at Undara at the start of our holiday for 1 night only and really wished we had booked more. We stayed in a railway carriage with shared bathroom facilities. The beds were very comfortable, space a bit tight but we were only in there to sleep. We had a delicious dinner in the bistro - kangaroo with loads of... More

This is a busy place. Huge. Personal always "on the run". The single compartment offers little space and little light after nightfall. Do bring a torch. (it was so dark in there, that I missed the additional blanked placed in the overhead netting and hence spent a rather chill night). The shared facilities are clean enough, but so close to... More

I have just spent three days experiencing the best that Undara has to offer. On Friday, after a four hour scenic drive from Cairns, we arrived, settled into our 'permanent structure tents' which were basic, but all that we needed, then off we set on a highly informative two hour walk through the Undara Lava Tubes - what an experience.... Our first Undara experience - Opera in the Outback. We opted to book one of the railway carriages. Cute & comfortable but the bathroom was dysfunctional. The floor of the shower recess is a deathtrap and the mirror is in complete dark. Washbasin is quirky but not practical. All that said - the weekend was great. The opera was very... More
