They didn't teach us about these geological marvels at school - at least the schools we went to. The tour to the lava tubes was well run. The guide was interesting and knowledgable. The large group was broken up into groups of 15 which was good. The facilities at the campsite were the best we have come across during our... More

I have been living in Townsville for more than 10 years and never visited the Undara Lava tubes, which are about 450km away. We started driving at about 4pm on Friday and got there at about 8:30pm. NOTE!!!! Drive carefully (not too fast), a lot of animals are on the road just before dark (including cows!!! :). Undara lodge is... More

Our second visit and noticed a couple of. Changes. The dining area, looked great. And changes to the cabins. We chose a rail carriage and a couple of things needed work. The interconnecting door did not shut well and had no locks on any doors. Toilet in the ensuite was very compact but love the ambience and character features. Bush... More

Volcanic tunnels were amazing. The staff were great and our tour was so much fun. Caravan Park spacious and all amenities clean and modern. BBQ area great place to meet and make life long friends. Old red rattlers turned int dining cars and Australian food on menu is a a must to try. I had crockodile. Yummy

We loved our trip to Undara. We staying in one of the railway carriage me went on the sunset and arch tours. While this isn't a cheap stay it is well worth it. The setting is amazing, kangaroos running wild round the lodge, amazing Savannah guides and a peaceful and relaxing environment. The swimming pools is a welcome addition to... More

We stayed in an unpowered site with a camper trailer for 2 nights. Amenities were a short walk away and clean. We did the tour of the lava tubes which was very informative. Also visited Kalkani crater in the afternoon, great views from the top. All staff were very helpful and friendly.

We spent 2 relaxing days & nights at Undara Experience in the Swag tent accommodation and embarked on 2 tours. The Double family tents were quite spacious with enough room for a porta-cot with the queen size bed. However the zips on them were all sticky with glue where they had been 'fixed'. And there were many dead bugs under... More

We stayed in the twin swag tent and it was amazing. This place is in the middle of nowhere but has a superb restaurant. Served around a big open fire pit or in some restored train carriages, the food is far beyond what we expected for somewhere so remote. Great selection of wines and a good range of food, including... Being new to Australia we were looking for something different for our Easter 2013 getaway. As South African natives we have a strong connection to nature and bushland, and as such decided that bush is where we would like to spend our second Easter long weekend. Turns out we made the right decision. From our arrival and checking in to... More

Our group of 11 stayed in the 'tent' area - which are actually semi-permanent tents. We did the lava tube excursion, watched the bats come out of the lava tubes at night (A MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE!) did a few hikes, had 'bush brekkie' (breakfast cooked outdoors over open fire etc.) swam in a neat little pool (far superior to the...
