The hotel is undergoing a much needed renovation which will hopefully continue in the Anchorage tradition from the early days- it seems that there are less screaming children these days which is also a wonderful return to old times when the place was full of interesting people and not out of control kids that have ruined our last few trips.... Have stayed here a few times before & recently returned for 3 nights. Room was tastefully renovated with a beautiful new bathroom (no character for me in old bathrooms). The views over the marina are really special and uninterrupted. Renovation still happening, pool area currently being done, but hardly intrusive due to considerate starting times in the morning. Merretts Restaurant... More

jus spent a weekend here for a wedding, the spot is terrific for views over Port Stephens. Our room looked out over the bay and marina and was spectacular. As they are in the process of renovating I think our room was still in need of it but overall worth a visit. A very good multiple choice breakfast was included... More

We stayed at the Anchorage for 3 nights recently and were pleasantly surprised by the peaceful ambiance and spaciousness of the grounds, rooms and restaurant. Most rooms have a northerly aspect facing over the marina and the bay. The staff are wonderful and efficient, the hot buffet breakfast included in the tariff is excellent, try the bircher muesli. Downsides were... More

I just spent two nights here for my 40th birthday and found the place amazing. The views from your room overlooking the marina are breath taking especially sunrise and sunset, room was huge, as for the reviews saying bathroom old and dated, I thought it added character and for the price, no right to complain, shower hot, pressure great, what more... This was our second visit to the Anchorage and once again we were impressed by the lovely setting and great staff. Each person that we met or dealt with at the Anchorage was friendly and helpful and really gives the place real homely feel. The grounds are beautiful and the beaches and general area are pristine. The room was spacious... More

I do not like to write negative comments so I will be short. Several months ago I have spent few days in the Anchorage Resort, Port Stephens in New South Wales, Australia and my impression at the time was not good. They advertise themselves as "World Class Luxury Accommodation in Port Stephens." Sadly, the accommodation is far from luxury and... More

Just spent 2 nights, felt very welcomed. Went out of their way to accommodate my wife and I and our 9 month old. Room service menu even includes pureed veggies for the bub. Beautiful views, great beach nearby. The renovations are way out of the way and not a problem at all. Will be back again soon.

My husband & I stayed two nights here a week ago. We enjoyed being able to walk along the waters edge. Our room was on the ground floor with french doors opening onto a grassed area overlooking where the boats were moored. Great spot to sit & enjoy a drink. Very relaxing stay. We will be back Chris L

We stayed at Anchorage many times when it was owned by Peppers. Fortunately the new owners have taken over and refurbishing the hotel and bringing it up to good standard, boy it needed it. The rooms have always been lovely just needed refreshing, and now withe the updating the bathrooms should be much better. Disappointed by the restaurant , very... More
