We paid $1000+ dollars for 2 people for an overnight visit here. We figured it's okay since the experiences described sounded so good (ecological trek, alligator spotting, piranha fishing). Don't get me wrong, the surrounding area is beautiful, but the lodge is average at best, and the activities described above were either significantly below expectations, or simply did not happen.... We chose to stay in Pocone but were able to access the activities at the pousada such as the horse riding and boat cruise through the water ways. The pousada is well situated and has all the amenities including Pele, the residential alligator. All pousadas advertise themselves as eco lodges BUT they have a serious problem with water hiyacinth and... More

Comfortable pousada about 13km down the highway from picone, 1.5 hr drive from Cuiaba. We had a triple room which was pleasant and what you would hope for in a rural stay. The staff spoke English at reception and schedule tours on arrival (we did a walk, horse riding and boat tour totalling about £35 per person). This lodge is... More

We stayed only one night at Piuval at the end of the wet season so there was water everywhere which was not only beautiful, but quiet, as the majority of tourists arrive later on when things dry up a little more. We had the place practically to ourselves. The grounds and pool were clean and well maintained; the food was... More

We stayed here for 5 nights and were amazed at the variety and abundance of birds we were able to see in that time, we also saw quite a few animals (including 3 types of monkeys and a giant anteater) which was good although birds are our primary interest. The room was a good size, well maintained with excellent air... More

lovely ambience to property - met by resident camen who has been there at least 20 years! Time here only spoilt by using fan in room as didn't realise that had air conditioning so sweltered quite a bit! Charming staff. Internet not always available and not sure why. food un inspiring - they certainly knew how to recycle left overs.... More

This was our first trip to the Pantanal. We stayed 5 nights at Pousada Piuval. We were there mainly to see wildlife and it exceeded our expectations. Jean Duval was our guide and he took us on walks, horseback, day and night excursions and several boat trips. He adjusted to meet our requests. He was extremely knowledgeable in answering our... For our first trip to the Pantanal we have looked at many places to stay, a lot of places are overrated and expensive, that's why we choose for pousada Piuval which had the best deal and we are very happy we made that choice. We have stayed here for 3 nights, and weren't bored for a second, a very relaxing... More

A nice, quiet place and we especially loved the surroundings: grassland with here and there a tree, a few small lakes and forest area. We saw many birds and apes and enjoyed a walk through the forest at sunset. The pousada (partly a cattle farm) is well maintained and has a nice pool, and it is possible to ride a... More

We stayed here for the last night of our trip to the Pantanal. After having mixed experiences at a couple of other pousadas, we were not sure what to expect and were pleasantly surprised by our stay at Pousada Piuval. The reception area is very nice with a small gift shop, but more importantly helpful staff. The rooms were a... More
