We stayed here in July of 2009 on the way to Salamanca, Spain. We were advised by the Portuguese Tourism office to choose a room in one of the old bungalows that are adjacent to the main manor house. Our room was a little dated and needed a makeover, but the location and ambience of this property more than make... More

While touring around in early November, we were booked here for 1 night. We were welcomed with a glass of port and given a lovely room with a balcony and a stunning view of the Douro River Valley. We enjoyed the gardens and the pool area although it was too cool to take advantage of the pool Yes, things are... More

Driving up to this pousada is a bit daunting, as it is a beautiful manor house in spectacular surroundings overlooking the Douro valley. The main house mainly kept its 18th century interior, which is quite impressive and the garden in the front is a delight. Quality and service of the pousada’s as a whole seem to have been slipping over... More

I can only confirm what has been written previously about the fantastic view, the style of the manor and peacefulness of this place. We stayed in one of the guest houses which had an even better view than the main house terrace. The room was spacious, clean and quiet with a modern bathroom and the 2-3 mins it took us... More

The place itself is absolutely amazing. An old manor house in the middle of vineyards overlooking the Douro river. Just a dream. Well appointed rooms with lots of history. Sadly the service was not good at all. For dinner, we got this tasteless pumpkin soup, got white wine, which they didn't even put to cool, there were cats - yes,... More

This Pousada is beautifully situated in the Douro Valley - in the heart of the port wine region. The Pousada itself is both a manor house and a series of guest houses, all which appear to have spectacular views. The manor house is grand and conveys images of what it might have looked like in the 18/19th century. We have... More

In a spectacular setting, but the service did not live up to the splendour of the surroundings. Although we’d pre-booked for three days, we were told when we arrived that we would have to change rooms after the first day. We left our room at 11.00 so they could move our cases and get the room ready for the next... More

A welcome return to the Solar da Rede pousada, following our first visit in 2006. What's changed? The pousada is now run by CS Hotels on behalf of Pousadas of Portugal, along with its sister hotel in Pinhao, the CS Vintage. This has standardised some of the offerings, so it's not quite as quirky as we remember it. But the... More
