The view is simply stunning, the area and the house is very well maintained you have a pretty garden and balcony from where you can see the duoro and the hills around. The rom was very well done -- if you book sort of last minute you can get great deals ;)

After getting twisted around in the hairpin turns in this area, we found the inn and were wisked into the beautiful house and shown the grounds and our room. The pool is perched on the side of the hill overlooking the vineyards and with the unusually high temperatures outside, this was a welcome way to wind down after siteseeing. The... More

The most special view. A wonderful, special place to stay. The owners obviously want their guests to have a memorable stay and are rightfully proud of their beautifully kept casa. The swimming pool looked delicious but we had forgotten our swimming costumes! We spent a couple of days exploring the valley in a hire car (from Europcar- Porto Airport- no... More

We spend a weekend at this wonderful Casa. We took the train from Porto Sao Bento to Rede (return fare 16.55 Euro per person). From there uphill for about 45 mins brisk waking and wow .. what a reward. The view is breathtaking. The Casa de Canilhas is a great B&B, with great staff, clean rooms with sensational views and... We stayed at the Casa de Canhilas on a trip through the Douro Valley. The casa is situated just outside Mesao Frio and has a magnificent vieuw on the Douro, the valley and vinyards. Parking is outside on the road (plenty of space). For a parking next to the house a 5€ supplement is asked which I feel for a... More

This guest house (it only does breakfast and rooms) is idyllic. You have excellent views of the great river and its surrounding vineyards (a World Hertitage site). The breakfast is wonderfulwith lots of local produce and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The hosts (Maria and Victor) are welcoming, full of good advice on places to visit and sometimes invite... More

I have to say first of all - this place is super cute. it's on the hillside in the Douro valley, and completely picturesque. One of the most beautiful places I have stayed. However... i have to say that there were some serious downsides. 1) it is tough to get to. If you have a week to wander around then... More

A four night stay during the last week in October was ideal to allow exploration of the Douro. The location is at the western end of the "interesting" wine growing region, and as a result we did find ourselves often travelling the same roads eastward as we explored the region. The Casa though, was excellent, and lived up to its... More

We loved our 2 night stay at Casa de Canilhas! With only 7 rooms, this beautiful manor home, owned by Maria and her doctor husband, assisted by friendly Fernanda, was a wonderful stay. Though not on a working winery, the home is set in vines and fruit trees, near the village of Mesao Frio. The Douro Valley is a very... More

I travelled solo to the Douro region and stayed one night here. As other reviewers have mentioned the views are indeed spectacular and I'm sure the swimming pool is a treat if you are staying here during the hot summer months. However it seems the decor hasn't been touched in years, which can be charming but I found it stuffy.... More
