If you are planning a visit to Cano Negro National Wildlife Refuge, this is the perfect place to stay. Rooms are spacious, very comfortable, clean and well-kept. The property is quiet and remote. This is not a luxury resort. More

My husband and I have just returned from Costa Rica and one of our stays was The Natural Lodge in Cano Negro. WE were the only guests at the beginning of December 2011 and I really consider that to be a big plus as we had the undivided attention of the excellent staff and guide. Nothing was too much trouble... More

On our Costa Rica trip, we stayed there for a single night, which seemed enough to get a good, first impression. We happened to be the only guests at the lodge end of November, but almost all facilities were open - including the pool (well, not the swim-in bar) as well as the restaurant - which was actually great. Main... More

We stayed at Natural Lodge Caño Negro, just west of the town of Los Chiles and about a mile from the Caño Negro dock on Río Frío. The lodge is located on beautifully landscaped grounds; groupings of single-story “bungalows” offer 2 double beds, air-conditioning, and spacious bathrooms (but no television in the rooms). The bathrooms also had lots of shelves... More

We stayed there on a 2 days / 1 night package - well organized - nice room - quiet garden with pool - good food - very interesting boat tour on Rio Frio river and lagunas. To be recommended to birdwatchers More

We just returned from Costa Rica about a week ago (mid Feb). What an amazing trip. Our stay at Cano Negro Natural Lodge was one of the highlights. We had a great guide on the lagoon tour and learned so much about the wetlands habitat - great pictures too. The lodge is as good as it looks in these pictures... More

Our favourite place during our visit to Costa Rica, my wife and I enjoyed our stay at Cano Negro Lodge very much. The staff are friendly and considerate, the hotel grounds are attractive and well-groomed, the rooms are simple but adequate, and the price is very reasonable (we stayed six nights, had a private fishing guide for four mornings for... The hotel reminds me of a summer camp when I was a kid. The rooms are simple, but do have air conditioning. There is not a TV in your room. The meals at the hotel, buffet style, are simple with little selection. But if you like to watch birds and see plenty of wildlife, this is the place to stay.... More

The only reason in my view to stay in Cano Negro itself, rather than do a day-trip (most of which just go for a ride on the river at Los Chiles and may not enter the park at all) is to be on site early in the quiet of the morning to beat the tour boats onto the reserve proper.... More

We stayed at the Cano Negro lodge for two nights as part of an OAT Costa Rica tour. Cano Negro is accessible via a forty-five minute ride down gravel road from either direction, and that is in the dry season. So it's not an especially pleasant drive -- but it is definitely worth it. The lodge was actually much better... More
