We stayed at Natural Lodge Caño Negro, just west of the town of Los Chiles and about a mile from the Caño Negro dock on Río Frío. The hotel reminds me of a summer camp when I was a kid. The rooms are simple, but do have air conditioning. There is not a TV in your room. The meals at the hotel, buffet style, are simple with little selection. But if you like to watch birds and see plenty of wildlife, this is the place to stay.... More

The only reason in my view to stay in Cano Negro itself, rather than do a day-trip (most of which just go for a ride on the river at Los Chiles and may not enter the park at all) is to be on site early in the quiet of the morning to beat the tour boats onto the reserve proper.... More
