I stayed two nights here while on a birding trip. The staff is very nice and helpful. The room is very spacious with air conditioning and fans. The bathroom is outside but private. Different but we had not problems. I love the dinning hall which is open air. The food is great and plenty of it. There is always a... More

Frederico is the owner of this fine property. If you get a chance to meet him you will see that he is a very affable host. He is happy to take time out to chat and listen to your queries. He knows the area well and can help you with your travels in the area. Thank you also to Olga... More

The hotel is perfect, the people were all very nice, they remembered Marianne's birthday, the birding was very good on the lower road. It is close enough to the beach and town that it is an easy drive. The room was very nice, the air conditioner worked very well, and the pool was wonderful. Also the food was good as... More

My three friends and I stayed at Cerro Lodge recently and would definitely recommend it, particularly to birders. The grounds are lovely and the many plants attract a lot of birds. It is possible to pick up a goodly number of species including macaws and mot-mots simply from walking the grounds and sitting in the open-air lounge and restaurant. Staff... More

I stayed here one night and enjoyed the experience very much. I was traveling by myself without a car and Federico was very helpful in arranging for taxi pickups to and from the hotel. There is an option to walk from the bus stop using a shortcut but I chose to use a taxi. Federico also arranged for my tour... More

Cerro Lodge is a wonderful place for birders - close to Carara National Park, a boat trip on the Tarcoles River and good birding from the dining room - they have bird feeders. We saw 3 scarlet macaws very close after only being there a couple of hours and later there were 7 just off the dining room - its... More

this lodge is a family lodge and a silent, relaxing, nice and safe place to start your day. From the wonderful open balcony you can observe the birds at dawn flying across while having your breakfast. The meals are simple and nice like at home and the staff takes care in a loving and natural way. Its like being at... More

Most people will look at Cerro Lodge for birds and outdoor activities and in that regard it certainly doesn't disappoint. There's a ton of bird life in this area-at one point we had scarlet macaws in the trees directly above our rental car, as they munched on almonds. We actually saw a lot more birds here than we did at... More

As anyother comment we apreciatte this one as well. We try to offer our guests as more ammenities as possible, though everything is related with the rate we charge. We don´t have a 100% bilingual staff, but in most of the time the relation with our clients works properlly. Also, I´m comming IN - OUT from the Lodge constantly and... More

This gem is hidden from the main rode and was a little difficult to find. Upon arrival, we virtually had the place to ourselves. Food was delicious, owner and staff were very friendly. Again, the place for bird and butterfly watching in the beautiful garden areas.

This lodge is a good choice for nature enthusiasts who are looking for clean, comfortable rooms with good air conditioners and room fans and a kitchen that serves 3 decent meals a day. The décor is rustic but attractive in an unpretentious way. The staff was very friendly to us and reasonably attentive, but it helped that we speak passable... More
