This gem is hidden from the main rode and was a little difficult to find. Upon arrival, we virtually had the place to ourselves. Food was delicious, owner and staff were very friendly. Again, the place for bird and butterfly watching in the beautiful garden areas.

This lodge is a good choice for nature enthusiasts who are looking for clean, comfortable rooms with good air conditioners and room fans and a kitchen that serves 3 decent meals a day. The décor is rustic but attractive in an unpretentious way. The staff was very friendly to us and reasonably attentive, but it helped that we speak passable... More

It's a nice place in the middle of nature, where you can see different birds (for example the Scarlet Macaw just on the threes beside the pool) and the accomodation is good with open air bathroom and a good meal in the morning and evening and it's just 10 Minutes from Carara National Park, where we had a very interesseted... Cerro Lodge has nice and cute bungalows which are surrounded by beautiful nature. My bungalow was very clean and tidy, the cleaning staff did a good job. The breakfast was standard good, the dinner quite good. The only bad thing was that during our two days stay nobody of the staff spoke english. Or barely english. So we couldn't get... More

This hotel really disappointed me. We stayed for one night, because I heard it was a great birdwatching spot. We intended to check out the property and see if we would stay longer next time around. We won't be. The property is quite run down and neglected. The tiny pool seemed dirty and murky, with lots of leaves floating on... More

This comment is really a surprise for us because the only request of this client at the front desk was the bad smell inside the room, this smell is the same at all our rooms and become from the cleaning liquids we use (is the first time someone complains about this and we really don´t know why she mention "humidity").... We stopped in Cerro for the night. Room was clean and beds comfortable. Dinner was OK with fresh fish and some side items. Breakfast was good. That said it's a Forgettable place. Decent to spend the night but that's about it

I stayed here in November for 3 nights, as part of a group of photograhers. My bungalow was spacious with two queen sized beds, two ceiling fans and airconditioning, bedside lamp and a small amount of hanging space. The bed was very comfortable and the place very clean. It was quiet for sleeping and a wonderful place to stay. The... More

First stop on our photo trip. Comfortable rooms with A/C need due to the humidity. Food was great, fresh, good variety. Great photography from the deck. Many birds including Scarlet Macaws, Fiery-billed Aracari and at night the black and white owl

The Cerro Lodge was a wonderful place to stay on our first night in Costa Rica. The staff was great and food was super. There were Scarlet Macaws everywhere and White Throated Magpie Jays. There was a nice pool and our cabin was private and very nice. The bathroom was so neat, it was in an area with beautiful plants... More

We stayed here in July, 2014 for 4 days/nights and enjoyed the lodging, food and most especially the spectacular environment. We enjoyed the great diversity of the Tarcoles area. As an example, I stepped outside at sunrise one morning to enjoy the wonderful environment and was in awe as flock scarlet macaws flew directly overhead. The accommodations were very functional,...
