For some reason (I wonder why) our review has been removed! We (two couples) had booked 3 nights as the grand finale to our Costa Rican experience. One couple upgraded to the only available Master Suite at a cost of $150 extra a night. The room was ok, quite disappointing for the money. Straight down to the beach - what... more

This a fantastic place to stay for a couple of nights. You are housed in an individual lodge on stilts right in the middle of the rain forest and yet only 20 metres away you will find an idyllic beach on the Caribbean ocean. The lodges are made of wood, with palm leaves as a roof and only mosquito netting... more

o dear. this 'hotel' promised so much but we were sorely disappointed. the little cabins / tents are connected by a wooden walk way through the surrounding jungle which has definitely seen better days - it was rotting away and was covered with patches of wire mesh. the place was virtually empty and had a sad atmosphere which was mirrored... more

Thinking this would be a wonderful way to end our trip to Costa Rica we (two couples) had booked two rooms for three nights. Big mistake! The rooms were ok and we were prepared for the jungle surrounds. Rushed to change and get on to the beach to relax and swim - had to drag the wooden, dirty sunbeds onto... more

We stayed at Almonds and Corals for 3 nights In December. We had a group of 3 families with kids. We absolutely loved it. The rooms, as you can see from pictures posted are basically raised tents over the rain forest floor. They are also close to each other, but we didn't find that to be a problem. You can... more

My business partner and I have led yoga retreats to destinations in Central America for five years. We found Almonds and Corals on the web and decided to lead our next yoga retreat there for January 2009. I went to visit the place in July 2008. It is beautiful, but the food was not great. However, we had already signed... more

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights on our honeymoon. Overall, we enjoyed the private beach but were very disappointed with the hotel. They charged for everything possible and our bill at the end of our stay was ridiculous! They charge to play each game of pool at the bar. We got a small bag of laundry done... more

This place is not for everyone. We had stayed at some very romantic and secluded places on our honeymoon but had not had the wildlife experience we were looking for. This was the place to see wildlife!! We saw Howler Monkeys, 2 different types of Tucans, Hummingbirds, Sloths, Iguanas, Strawberry Poison Frogs, and "rodents of unusual size" that look a... more

Almonds and Corals was amazing. It is in the heart of the rainforest, and you couldn't ask for a better lodge for avid outdoors people that want a little seclusion (the "off the beaten path" cliche). It is true that there are tons of insects, but the mosquitoes were not bad and we never had any issues. The howler monkeys... more

We just came back from an 8 day stay at Almonds and Corals, along with 3 other of my siblings and their families (total of 17, ages 11 - 55). The entire experience was unforgettable. I am a naturalist, and the eco lodge experience was rare and rich. The tent "cabins" are gorgeous in their understated elegance, and screened so... more
