Grounds are well manicured. The kitchen staff are by all counts polite and courteous. Now here is when things fall apart. Guest hospitality is xxxxxxxx The menu was very limited. The internet service was almost non existent; on!y being able to connect in the lobby and sometimes in the restaurant. Finally the room furniture is outdated and poorly maintained. The... More

Terrible facts: 1) I booked in Expedia and it says the Hotel has free wifi... well they only have wi fi in the restaurant and the lobby but they dont have wifi in the room! 2) The room was old, lack of privacy because it has a huge window in the front door so you could hear everything has anybody... The place just looks really really old and filthy. It's very outdated and desolated, looks dark, old and boring. The TV in the room was extremely little and old, the bathroom awful too. The pool is just a (not very large) square full of people. No no, just no. I turned around and left after an hour being there.

Gorgeous grounds, many birds, nice thermal pools, ok food (what can you do with rice, beans and chicken), but....at night...the beds are beyond hard and the ventilation (a fan) poor....a nice place in need of upgrade....enjoy the grounds and then toss and turn.

The hotel is located in the nice Agua Zarcas area, it offers a great option to escape into nature as the natural thermal water pools and the beautiful surroundings really allow you and your family to relax. There are plenty of things to do in the hotel and in the region around it; go to Ciudad Quesada (largest city around),... More

We spent 4 wonderful days in Costa Rica staying at the El Turcano Resort & Thermal Health Spa. We were picked up at the San Jose airport by www.frankstours.com. Frank was our guide for the entire time. The resort was in the beautiful rainforest out of San Carlos. The thermal pools are so relaxing & the staff is very attentive.... More

Bedroom was ok, nothing special, but comfortable, it would have been nice to have WiFi and being able to adapt the lights at different levels, but the only real problem was the TV, it was really old and small. The good thing is that the place is really amazing, a great environment, having a river with natural thermal water was... More

I stayed at this hotel in July 2014 with my brother and sister. We had a lovely time. Mostly Ticos were vacationing there. There are hot pools and you can walk down a path to the river and sit amongst the boulders, which in various spots have thermal springs. There are walking paths along the river. The beds were very... We celebrated our 40th anniversary at El Tucano so we wanted to spend our 50th there on April 24. I called about three weeks in advance about reservations and was told that they would be in the slow season y reservations weren't necessary. That was a huge mistake. When we arrived there was some type of a seminar going on... More

Stayed here for 3 nights with our Overseas Adventure Travel tour group. A wonderful spot for "birding." Unfortunately, the lovely birds got rather noisy around 4:30 in the morning. The room was large with 2 comfy queen beds. This area is cool in the morning and the evening, but AC would have been a nice addition during the day (there... More
