Really friendly staff who made us feel at home straight away. We had a lovely room with a dual aspect. Plenty of space in the room. Had a drying room which was useful. Although dogs are allowed, the whole place was spotless Had evening meal here too and there was plenty of choice and was good value. Breakfast OK, a... More

By the time we had negotiated the blue route over 9 standards in heavy wind and rain (including close encounters with a peat bog) we were more than glad to arrive at Keld Lodge but a bit unsure if we were too early to be admitted. We needn't have worried as we were made very welcome. Keld Lodge prides itself... More

My wife and I stayed here with two other couples as part of our Coast To Coast walk. As soon as we walked into the small bar from the entrance porch we were made very welcome. They immediately got a big tick from me as the only barperson on the whole coast to coast walk who knew what the drink... More

Our happy memory of this place was as a hostel, but although the building is essentially the same, new ownership has transformed new life into its heart and it was a real pleasure to stay overnight at this fell side hotel run by enthusiastic and talented people. It must be appreciated that the majority of guests arrive here as a... More

Keld is a tiny hamlet & if you don't eat here you go hungry. When I learnt that is was the former Youth Hostel I had my reservations as in this location you don't have to try too hard. But they have tried very hard and they are deservedly popular. We only ate there but found the menu varied and... More

This was our third visit to Keld Lodge, and it remains a special place on the Coast to Coast itinerary. Exactly half way on route and it is time for celebration, with views of tomorrows route from the dining room windows. A very relaxed atmosphere and warm place to chill. Excellent food, and friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommended -... More

A wonderful place to stay. Outstanding location. Staff were excellent in every respect. Lovely room. Most dog friendly place we stayed in the first week of our walk. Provided dog bed and treats on arrival. (Why should Cassie have all the fun - I would have preferred a pint of cider for me!) excellent evening meal and breakfast.

Keld Lodge is a great place for a stopover on the C2C. The accommodation was light, bright, clean and very comfortable. The location and views are superb and the manager was very welcoming and helpful. We had a delicious meal and relaxing evening. The lodge is geared up for walkers with a proper drying room ( essential as our kit... More

One of, if not the, best stopovers on C to C walk. Great staff greeted us on arrival. Lovely sitting room with wonderful views. Place was well decorated. Rooms were clean and tidy. The dinner was the best one we had on our walk. There is clearly a very talented chef in the kitchen. Excellent breakfast. Would return. I had... More
