We booked two double rooms at The Plough for a Saturday night to visit a music event in Whitby and this was a great decision. Graham and the other staff were very welcoming, the rooms were good, well equipped and newly decorated and the breakfast in the dining room overlooking the garden were excellent. Helpful advice on taxis made it... More

My wife and I stayed here last weekend to attend a family wedding. The room was clean and comfortable. The locals were very friendly in the bar and the owners so helpful nothing was a bother to them. Best of all was the breakfast, my wife still talks about her scrambled egg which we recommend to anyone staying at the... More

My neighbour and I had a very pleasant stay for a week. The family that run it are wonderful and friendly and that includes Alfie the dog. The food was excellent and plenty of it. My neighbour even had her pudding for breakfast because she was so full at the evening meal. The pub was busy every night and the locals... More

My sister and I checked in to find the place full with lots of people dining at lunch time which was a good sign for us. The couple who run this establishment and their staff could not do enough to ensure we had everything we needed. We had a superb 3 course home cooked evening meal with fresh vegetables. The... More

Had one night here and I have to say that the service was beyond any I have experienced. The satff went out of their way to find us accomodation for a second night in the area. The room was clean, comfortable and nothing like the description of the previous review. Yes the carpet is a little worn in places on... More

I have seldom been so disappointed with a room (room 2) as the one in the Plough Inn. It’s not a good sign when you being shown to your room that you walk up filthy carpets and these contained into the room, a disgusting start. The room is small and the bed fills most of it. There are no wardrobes,... More

We were only in the area for one night, to show our daughter's French boyfriend a little of the Yorkshire Coast. We were made very welcome, enjoyed an evening meal (which was delicious) and a few drinks in the bar, and even had a darts match (sorry about the holes in the carpet). We weren't expecting a hotel, so no... More

A birthday surprise from my wife. Lovely looking country pub with good write ups on Trip Adviser. Interior of the pub has got past charming and quaint to tired and needing some TLC. The bedroom was a good size. Decor was marked, fittings tired. Shower had bits missing and the grouting was dirty. Had dinner out and returned to find... More

This inn was booked for us by a firm arranging our Coast to Coast walk and it represents the penultimate nights stop before arriving at Robin Hood’s Bay when walking west to east. The room was clean and whilst being basic was adequately provisioned and with a good sized bathroom. A dinner table was booked for us in the small... More
