We stayed at Akerblads for two nights at the recommendation of a 5-star hotel interior decorator we met in Stockholm. This is an old property that has been continually renovated over time. It is run by the 25th or so generation of ownership. We were there in late September. Except for a convention staying there for a couple of days, there was hardly anyone there so the price was right.

The rural location on a hillside in Tallberg is gorgeous. Tallberg consists basically of several similar older hotels, all done in Falun Red paint, with views of Lake Siljan. The property (several centuries old) consists of a main hotel and several outbuildings that also contain rooms. We stayed in one of the outbuildings. The room was small but well appointed with what you would expect in a modern hotel. While delightful and appropriate, it was not luxurious.
